It will soon pass through him. Just do not let it happen again. :)

No. There is a myth that chewing gum stays in the digestive system for years, but that is an old wives tale. It's actually purported that swallowing chewing gum can actually clean out the digestive system.
While chewing gum cannot be digested by the body, it will pass harmlessly through the system.

No. The old story of 'it will stick to your ribs' or 'never be digested' are all false, sorry Grandmothers around the world..
The main ingredient in most chewing gum is Sugar. Other than perhaps a tummy-ache from taking in too much, no harm will be done.
(There are of course effects if this happens on a regular basis, such as Obesity/Diabetes, etc.)

Its not a good idea to give gum to children....gum does not dissolve and will stay in the digestive track for many, many years...ever heard the story about the woman who kept swallowing gum and her stomach swelled up? She went to the hospital because she was unable to eat or go poop and they had to cut her stomach open. They found a lot of old nasty gum stuck in her and blocking her tubes...so its not an old wives tale.It really does harm your innards.

It probably is harmful to a toddler. I've always heard it was bad, but I have always swallowed gum and never had any problems.

for sure yes...
put a board or a nice frame on the wall, in his\her room, where your child can make an own chewing gum collection, make it as a game, it might help to stop your child from swallowing it.

Accidently once or twice....no problem !! The intestinal system will be able to throw it out. A regular habit....can obstruct passage and give problems!! Chewing gums may give a person the look of a "cow" boy but as a life style, its bad!

no longer something will ensue, I easily have swallowed alot of gum in my time, and im high quality haha. It takes seven years to digest because its a twin of swallowing rubber, the acids on your abdomen cant shrink the compound. yet that isn't a foul element, gum wouldnt were made if it became deadly to swallow. wellness and safe practices now a days are everywhere it ought to were undesirable if it became that undesirable! :) desire this helped :)

Yes of-course.
Letting your child eat chewing gum is a bad habit. Most of the parents buy it for children without having any sense. Children love it too and get addicted.
But please remember it is nothing at all for their health and stomach.
So please don't kill your child. Buy some fruits for them for the money you spend for chewing gum.

No it may cause stomach upset or constipation. Untill your child is older why don't you stop giving him gum? That way he can't swallow it.

My husband's grandmother had to have her appendix removed. The doctor found pieces of gum in it. Gross, but the doctor seemed to think that it was the cause of her appendicitis.
