I am agnostic, and really don't apprieciate it when Christians really try hard to get me to go to church with them or pray in my home openly (while trying to hold my hand). I have my beliefs, and don't shove them in their faces.
I also have no apprieciation for the missionaries that go to forgien countries and "save the people" from sins and such. They have their own beliefs, so why pressure them into your religion. You would be very offended if they came to your home and tried to save you with their religion.
It is good that you have your faith and you are proud of it. We all make decisions that help lead us day to day and get us by. If your beliefs lead you to the conclusion that you will end in a better place one day great. That is good that you have that. It probably makes you a better person. I live my life knowing once I am dead, I will leave this Earth and I am gone. Knowing that, I try to make every day a great one.
There are religious fanatics everywhere and there are non religion fanatics everywhere as well. If people could keep their mouths shut about what they believe, the world sure would be a better place. If you think about it, there would be a lot less fighting and wars. Governments could function in a positive direction. People could truly love their neighbors. Instead, we hide from Muslims because they are bad, and bicker about what I teach in my classroom because it is what their book tells them or what they heard from some whacked out guy on tv.
This is long I know, but for some reason, your post really struck me.

"i just wanted to say that alot of them are sharing with you because they care about you. they want to know that when it all comes down to it you will end up in the right place"
I don't mean to be rude, but these are very self-righteous words...as Christians, we need to understand that this is our belief that we chose and that others have a right to their beliefs...in the same way that Buddhists and Muslims believe that they know the truth as well. I don't think it's caring for others that spurs this sharing of belief but a need to feel that you are doing God's will by spreading His gospel to the "lost".
And there is really no need to defend, be proud of or fight for your faith, truth and God can stand on their own because of their nature.
How would you feel if a Muslim told you that what you believe is not the truth and you need to listen or else you won't end up in the "right" place? You might be angry and offended...put yourself in the other's shoes.

No, honey, they DON'T care about us. They are repeating what they were taught by their parents and pastors, without giving it very much thought. They are SCARED, plain and simple, of going to this imaginary place called hell after they die, and this terror is what motivates them to "spread the word of God" so that others won't go there. What they are really spreading is fear of the unknown, fear of death. Far from being selfless and caring, they are quite self-centered, for the simple fact that they think themselves to be so vitally important to the world that they cannot imagine their own non-existence. Nobody can imagine it. Some people are frightened of the idea, some of us are not. For those of us who are not, it is simply the way things are.
Does the world really need such fear-mongering over nothing? Hell and heaven do not exist, they are figments of the imaginations of billions of humans since the beginnings of human intelligence. Your version of hell differs from other people's versions of hell. How do you know yours is right and theirs are wrong? They're all equally loony, so I reject them all. You can say all you want about going to the "right place," but I AM in the right place--right here on planet Earth, doing my best to live in harmony with my fellow humans. This is the only life you will ever have, so take advantage of it now, live it to the fullest, and enjoy as much of it as you can, instead of wasting your existence yearning for a dream, a wish, a vague hope of some of other life of which you have no proof. THAT is the message that I would like to spread...but something tells me you don't want to hear it.

Have you ever heard "The road to hell is paved with good intentions?" There are some well intentioned people out here making some really big messes. I dont think you are one of them. I encourage all to be respectful and mindful of others in this forum. Especially the ones you do not agree with. If I want anyone to see my POV it isn't going to work if i am acting like a moron. It does not matter at that point if I am right or not.

Athiests can also say that they're trying to save you. Save you from believing something that doesn't exist perhaps? Stop caring about people who don't want you to care for them. That's all I can say. I don't want people to bother about my soul, or my happiness. Because you know what? I am bloody damned happy the way I am. I think going to Church every Sunday would make my life miserable, because I like to sleep in.
I know you want to do good, I know you want to save people from what you see as their own folly. It's a respectable trait. But everytime someone tries, they are criticising us, ridiculing what we believe in. It is an extreme insult to try to convert an athiest, and I take great offense to being referred to as stupid, because I am far from it. So whenever a statement such as this comes up, of course people are going to react.
I see believing in something gives you a purpose. Christianity, Buddism, Islam... they are beliefs. And so is Athiestism. (it doesn't matter which is correct, if any are, but at least everyone has something to believe in).

I was raised in the methodist church. I was also raised that you do not discuss religion or politics in public!
If people want the info they will ask for it. And I am not saying you do but some people are just over the top about the christianity thing, and a lot of people are tired of having it pushed in their faces all the time. Please don't take offense, I really don't mean anything mean to you. My personal experience was as follows, just so you know why I feel the way I feel. The good christian parents, of my sons good christian girlfriend, took it upon themselves to have my son baptized with out talking to me first, in their baptist church! They did not even tell me about it before hand, they just called me and asked me to go to church with them on sunday. I went and to my surprise my son was baptized that day!! Because they wanted their daughters bf to be baptized in their church. Well as it turned out the daughter had already slept with every boy in the church by the age of 15!! Not exactly the good christian girl her mom and dad think she is!! I was just really mad because I think that they should have talked to me first! I do not think that was the proper christian way to get a youn boy (15 yrs old) baptized so that he was their version of good enough for their daughter. When he was ready he would have been baptized in our church, not theirs! Now I can't even get him to go to church, because of things that happened in that church, because of those two people!!

As Christians, it's our job to witness. Read Matthew 28:19-20, and Ezekiel 33:8. As far as the Ezekial verse goes, if we don't tell them to turn from their wicked ways, and the burn in Hell, then it's our fault. So it is imperative that we witness. But the forcing it down your throat, we can't force Christianity on you, but we can still tell you about it.

i think that your right because with people telling other folks about GOD they are witnessing for the lord and when judgement day come and we are all in front of the lord they can never say that they didn't know or that nobody told them......but
i do think that people should visit different religion if they not sure which one is true and real and judge for your self but remember this IF IT IS NOT IN THE BIBLE IT IS NOT TRUE if somebody tell you somethin tell them to show you it in the bible. GOD bless

Here's the problem. Some Christians are so concerned about the afterlife, they are not paying attention to how they treat people in this life. Telling someone about your God/god, is fine. Judging others, condemning people to Hell and generally being mean is not.
