From the catholic perspective almost but not quite. The catholic church belives that a war is approvable so long as it follows the Just war criteria put forth by saint augustine and acqinus. It came about when europe was threatend by a large invading force and it would have done more harm then good in not acting against the force. The criteria that must be followed for a war to be considered Just is that there must be Just Cause such as defending against an external attack, recapturing things taken, punishing people who have done wrong. There must be
Comparative Justice meening that the injustices of one side gravely out weigh those of the other (Hitler killed 6 mill jews and churchil provoked hitler by puting arms onto passenger ships thus provoking an attack on non combatens). Legitimate Authority must be used meening a large majority of the public must be for the war (there was a large majority of sen. and cong. men who represented the people and voted for war). Probability of Success or that your not waging a war that you cant win and that it will kill off all of your soldiers for nothing with no hope of winning. Right intenshon meening that your not just doing it in the hopes for something back (heres were Iraq 2 doesent work). War must also be a last resort after much deliberation and knowing that it cant be solved any other way. And finaly the overal good that comes about must out way the destruction. And nuc. atomic and bio. wepons arent permited. In order for a war to be considered Just it must follow all of the above criteria and it dosent so its not Just.

not unless jesus approves of lying, manipulation, and self-serving intent. i think it is incredible that so many have bought the party line that says iraq was going to attack us. how many times did we have to hear 9-11 and saddam in the same sentence? they had nothing to do with each other. it was ok for saddam to be a tyrant as long as he was doing our bidding. we already knew what weapons he had and didn't have because we supplied him with all the training and weapons he ever needed to wield the insane power and destruction over the iraqi people. once he wanted his own power, we decided to attack. 9-11 was a convenient excuse. funny how korea was saying "hey look at us we have a nuclear weapon and we don't like america!" but little iraq with all that oil was just too tempting....

i can only hope there will be some divine intervention to remedy the suffering in the world, but the best we can do for now is to take the responsibility of working on our own individual emotional and spiritual evolution.

Here is the definitive answer for all possible cases: If Jesus is alive in heaven, he is the Prince of Peace and he doesn't approve of war. If Jesus is a man who lived two thousand years ago and taught "love your enemies" he wouldn't have approved of a war in Iraq at that time either. The guy who works on my car is named Jesus (pronounced Hey Zeus) and he doesn't approve of the war in Iraq. Another year and a half and GWBush is so fired.

I imagine it depends on how many lives have been saved in the process. Since Saddam Hussein has been verified to have killed over 300,000 of his own citizens, and some estimates are over a million, that would be some improvement right there. Given his stated intentions to attack both Israel and the United States, the decision appeared prudent. We have since learned that he apparently didn't have the means he was boasting of having, but the threats were made, and he managed to fool an awful lot of people into believing him.

How many people were killed in Iran from Saddam Hussein's bombs ? It would appear that his missiles failed to kill very many people in Israel, but it wasn't for lack of trying. Why did Allah not save us from him ? He may have been a small time Hitler, but what he lacked for in reach, he made up for in hideous inventiveness.

Bush may not be the world's greatest leader, but he's managed to do a passable job under horrific conditions. If you think he's so bad, you need to do a little research into the 'necessities' practiced by FDR in World War Two. Given that he was up against two extremely hostile enemies, some excesses may be expected, but that doesn't mean they didn't happen.

First of all, 80,000 sounds awful. That is a large number of people. How about one million? Two million? Three million? For Stalin and Saddam Hussein, these numbers are trivial. How about Pol Pot? Hitler? Or do you recognize any of these names? To compare Bush to these tyrants, past and present and future, shows a weak intellect, if any intellect at all. You have no perspective. Put down The New York Times and study some history... for Jesus' sake!!!

Yes because Jesus is the bridge to the Father in heaven and the Apocalypse must begin sayeth the lord so George Bush is the Anti-Christ placed on earth to set in motion Armageddon so that this world would be destroyed and all of God's chosen ones will come home to roost with him in the sky (higher up than space).

No, Jesus said Satan was the ruler of this world and not to look for help in it, but to look for his incoming Kingdom. Did Jesus take sides with the Jews against Romes occupation? No. Why? Because, He said "my kingdom is no part of this world" therefore showing his followers the importance of seperating themselves from worrying about or caring what happens in this one. Its only in his Kingdom that peace will reign. Indeed, God himself says in the Book of Revelation that if "he didn't cut the days short of his return, there would be no one left." It will be THAT bad near the end.

Over one million Iraqis are believed to be missing in Iraq as a result of executions, wars and defections, of whom hundreds of thousands are thought to be in mass graves.

The 1983 attack against Kurdish citizens belonging to the Barzani tribe, 8,000 of whom were rounded up by the regime in northern Iraq and executed in deserts at great distances from their homes.
The 1988 Anfal campaign, during which as many as 182,000 people disappeared. Most of the men were separated from their families and were executed in deserts in the west and southwest of Iraq. The remains of some of their wives and children have also been found in mass graves.
Chemical attacks against Kurdish villages from 1986 to 1988, including the Halabja attack, when the Iraqi Air Force dropped sarin, VX and tabun chemical agents on the civilian population, killing 5,000 people immediately and causing long-term medical problems, related deaths, and birth defects among the progeny of thousands more.
The 1991 massacre of Iraqi Shi’a Muslims after the Shi’a uprising at the end of the Gulf war, in which tens of thousands of soldiers and civilians in such regions as Basra and Al-Hillah were killed.
The 1991 Kurdish massacre, which targeted civilians and soldiers who fought for autonomy in northern Iraq after the Gulf war.
Opponents and critics of the regime from all religious and ethnic groups were also executed and buried in mass graves. Many of these are believed to be located at or near prisons and former military establishments.

By your logic, Jesus probably would have opposed taking up arms against the Nazis too.

I try to let God be God His job might be easy for him, but very difficult for me because I cannot see all sides of this. Intention can start out very noble, and go very sour because the press will only see one side. To much politics, you know!!!
We in America as a people have to get our act together by getting on our knees first.
