Tootsie pops are nasty, so just one and into the trash. The garbage disposal then works its magic and compacts the trash. This act then crushes the tootsie pop and BAM, we're in the center. Just 1.

A group of engineering students from Purdue University recorded that their licking machine, modeled after a human tongue, took an average of 364 licks to get to the center of a Tootsie Pop. They tried the same licking test on 20 volunteers and found that the average licks to the center were 252 licks.

You know, I've tried to actually count before, but I got bored with it. I'd say at least a few hundred, depending how big of licks you'd do to the sucker.
