First take it to a dealership and just get it apprasied. Act like you are interested in one of their cars and want to know what they will give you for yours. This will at least give you the low dollar value on your car.
Then get on www.kbb.com and figure out what the average retail value is of your car. Take into count any damage you have, excessive miles, etc.
Next look on ebay motors, www.autotrader.com, www.cars.com, www.beepbeep.com and see what others are asking for the same car as yours with about the same miles and options.
Now you know your low price (from dealer), what the value truely is (from kelly blue book) and you know what the market is selling them for (car sits for what others are asking).
Now depending on what you owe on the car, want for the car, how fast you want to sell the car is what you set your price at. If you want to sell it fast, you set the price lower then the others to get the attention on yours.
Normal classifieds work but are so old fashioned and few use them anymore. You are better off just listing it at least on www.autotrader.com, this way it is seen nationally for the money spent. www.cars.com isn't worth the money to spend to list a car and www.beepbeep.com is new so I would watch my money there as well.
Keeping the car clean at all times, have a for sale sign in the window with a contact phone number and email address. If you can park it in your yard or up the street in a parking lot or something to get more notice on it.
Just watch parking it in some parking lots as they do not allow it and might tow it.
Just remember you are the seller...you can't get ripped off. You can always so no to any offer someone gives you.
Money wise....just make it cash or certified check to be easy. To deal with anything else is just a paperwork pain.

The most important thing to know is that when you sell your car, make sure you put sold as is and no warranty, on the receipt. You might want to have a guy sell it because for some reason man and woman will give a male more money for a car than a woman. You must also find out what other cars like yours is being sold for, so you don't under price or over price your car. Advertising is best, go to craigslist.com it is free and you can keep posting it until it sells. Finally make sure when you are showing it, it is clean, a dirty car always sells for less, even if it runs well. Finally make sure you always, always negotiate higher than you asking price, because the buyer will always try to bring you down, this way in the end you get what you want for it and the buyer feels like he/she is getting a deal. I hope I was helpful.

Go to the store and get an Auto Blue Book and find out the cars value, and sell around the general price. Have a friend with you as a back up precaution.

You want to get the most you can, so you will have to do the work. Time is money as the saying goes. You can get an antique dealer to look at the items he may know but he will charge you and he may have no idea about coins, medals tokens or sport cards as well as other items. See what he has in his store. Ask for references. There is no quick and safe way unless you do the leg work yourself. Libraries have books and price guide on antiques as well as other items. Me I would have a ball going through it. So you have the option do it yourself or pay someone. I would make the time and look the stuff up myself.

Go to your local DMV. Odds are that they have a kit that would help you sell your car, including all legal documents, etc. As for what you should sell it for, go to kbb.com, choose used cars, select your car and all the options it may have, and it will give you a going rate for the area you live in.
