ok, here is my guess, i dont know your med history or how you are taking them, i work in a pharmacy and that usually helps knowing the dosage and frequency but the concerta is for the adhd prozac and ativan to help calm you down the seroquel lamictal and topamax for bi polar ocd and gad and the restoril to help you sleep at night ive also heard of geodone zoloft and zyprexa used for adhd bi-polar and ocd why so many you ask? because this seems to be what is working best for you it is different for everyone it goes the same for any medical condition i have seizures and i could be one 4 or 5 meds at one time but im only one one thankfully it just depends on your body and how it responds to which therapies your doctor wants to try, good luck!

I have a relative who is bi-polar and he takes about ten different meds. He has complex partial seizures also. He takes lithium, gabtril, seroquel, tri-leptol, nuerontin, cymbalta, synthroid, lysnopril, there are others but they are for other illnesses. I was told he has so many because each med. takes care of a different part of his illness. Each person needs to work with their own Doctor to find a correct combination that works for them specifically. And keep a watchful eye on just how well they are doing so meds. can be adjusted to be of more help. He has changed his lifestyle. He doesn't self medicate with alcohol, food, or anything else. This has been over the course of my knowing about his illness for 31 years. Good luck with yours . Do you have a trusted friend or relative who has power of attorney, health care representative, and file an advanced directive so your wishes will be followed if you can't make them known? This has been a lifesaver on about 6 different occasions. Best of luck to you! Study and know your rights as a person with this illness.

I cannot believe you are on that many meds, especially when one is Seroquel. Where in the world did you find this doctor. With the amount of meds you are on, I find it difficult to believe that you have the ability to even post this question. My son is bi polar and ocd and probably ADHD as well, He was on Depakote and paxil. They changed meds to Resperidone and Zoloft. He was then on Lexapro. He is now just on the risperdal and doing quite well. The seroquel, at minimal dosage, made him a zombie. No symptoms because he was pharmaceutically lobotomized. I think you need a new doctor, pronto.

I have schizoaffective disorder which is mild schizophrenia and bipolar disorder combined. I also have OCD and some personality issues. I only take Prozac, Zyprexa, and Xanax. I had to change doctors though. The first doctor had me taking 11 meds at once. Exercise, diet, and therapy have also helped me. I don't see how you are able to function on all those meds. I could not keep me eyes open when I took 11. I had multiple wrecks unfortunately.

Bi-polar is a state of mind. Sometimes I feel that I could be but I'm not going to go to a doctor and get on a bunch of med's that are just going to mess me up. Overcome your state of mind and take control before the med's take control of you! I feel that it's just another excuse for people to try to get attention, but that's my opinion, I'm not a doctor.

You should ask your doctor what each medicine does and why you take it. I have been on Lamictal and Topamax and Seroquel before. I have Bipolar. In time maybe you can have your doctor take you off some meds, but always do that with a doctor's help.

some doctors like to add on the meds. at one point i was on 6 meds. i am on 3 now. i needed the six at the time.
if you don't like taking so much meds talk to the doctor about it. they will try to work with you.

Get away from Meds and try amino acids and supplements. Read Depression -free for life by Gabriel Cousens. Stop making Merc and other big pharmaceuticals rich. They profit from your dependence. Say no to the legal drug pushers!

Devacote ER makes you just want to sleep all the time, and it's for epileptics but is prescribed for "bipolars." Often doctors determine "bipolar" because they have no other category for their patients - and doctors have to determine a prognosis and a method of treatment. I don't take any medication, because medication isn't a way to deal with problems - it's escapist, and it messes with your brain chemistry. Long term effects of most of these drugs haven't been determined.

Sounds like time to get a 2nd opinion.
A doctor once said I had ADHD, I seek a 2nd doctor, and they say I have anxiety. After 3rd and 4th opinion I narrowed it down to anxiety and I take Lexapro 20mg daily.
This also helps with my light OCD.
