how do i create a home network between my computer and my mother's through the router?

i'm trying to create a network between mine and my mother's but i can't seem to be achieving this. I would like to know if someone could help me through this please.

Hi first of see u have Eithernet Cards in bouth the systems and check for ip address on both systems for this goto Command prompt and the type 'ipconfig' thsi will give the ip add, try to connect two systems with NETWORK Cable and Use 'ping with other ssystem IP' see the responce if the responce is there then u can connect to the other system, for detail description go to follwing link where u can get how to assign a ip add to ur system and on...
