Violence existed in the world since Cain killed Abel. It is not something new and it cannot be stopped just like that. Also, it is impossible to change the world. A person could only change himself. so I would say that if each of us takes upon himself to be a little less violent that would make a small change which would slowly grow outward.
And another thing. stop showing your children, and watching violent movies and TV shows. I know it sounds silly, but these things penetrate and make people less sensitive to violence. Why should little kids lose their innocence before they have to??? kids act on what they see, so seeing violence has affect on them - you could see that for yourself, if you look.

Violence has been in the world even before man. We give ourselves way to much credit by thinking there is anything we can do to stop it.

Stop hurting other people. Consider what you are doing, is it in violation of someone's unalienable rights if so don't do it.
Abortion is violence too. Those babies do have the right to life.
