You can fly from PHL(Philly) to JFK on Delta (will be a prop plane in a few months...strongly advise not flying on that). Can also fly PHL-LGA on a larger aircraft on US Airways (A319 or A320) and regional jets, but RJ's are small and cramped. My vote goes for the Delta or US Airways Shuttle from LGA to DC or Boston. 30 minutes in the air.

PHL-NYC actually takes longer than LGA-BOS because you rarely get above 8000 feet and you have to deal with ATC delays in the area. Go with the Shuttle to DC or Boston!!

There are shuttle flights by Delta and US Airways from New York LaGuardia to Boston as well as Washington DC. Philadelphia is also short. Continental might even have a flight from NYC into New Jersey. Hope you can overcome your claustrophobia.

find someone flying RJs - regional jets - or even better the twin engine turbo props.,both are considerably smaller than 737s . destinations can be Philly or DC or Burlington Vt or any thing within 300 miles of NYC. Wouldn't you spend your money better by hanging out in the submarine docked next to the Intrepid or riding crowded subways at rush hour ?

I've taken a one hour flight to Buffalo but there is probably one closer. Check out jetblue because they offer a lot of short distance flights.

IF YOUR TRYING TO LEARN TO DEAL WITH CLAUSTROPHOBIA JUST BEING IN NYC GIVES YOU PLENTY OF OPPORTUNITY. ANY SUBWAY STATION SHOULD DO.
GRAND CENTRAL AT RUSH HOUR...
