Let us suppose that there is other life out there, tons of life. Probably that life will look very different than us. And let's say that perhaps some species even share a human belief of a God or deity. That "their" God created their race in their God's own image. So now, the alien's God looks completly different than our "human" God. What happens if one day by chance, our species meet. We say, "God looks like we do!" And they say the same thing in their language. "God looks like we do!" Who is right, since you can't physically prove what God looks like.

Now remember, the patterns of nature are everywhere the same in the Universe. The same basic elements and same forces at work. We now see that many, if not, all stars might have many worlds. With all those planets, surely life has evolved on many worlds.

God may very well be the creation of man in order to cushion himself from the mystery of death.

Positing an answer to a question like this, which is made possible only by assuming theoretical events, is difficult. To start, any answer I give can be countered by another 'what if' question. Second, similar to the problem posed in the first, if I attempt to base my answer on a theory it can be discounted because it doesn't correspond to 'fact.'

So, with these to insurmountable problems in mind, here's my answer.

The standard we would be forced to accept in this instance would be the same as we have today. That is, since Jesus Christ, the incarnate God, has revealed Himself as the the very image of God, we can know that His (God's) image and the image-bearers of God (i.e., mankind) corresponds to that of Jesus.

It should be noted that the 'image' spoken of in the Bible is not one of physical characteristics but something that transcends material boundaries.

Finally, if there were multiple gods then this wouldn't comply with the Biblical assertion that there is only 1 God so the discussion would be pointless because each creation of each god could have the distinction of that creator. On the other hand, if it is the same God but only multiple races of creatures we're talking about then the issue again returns to that of Christ.

The same source that says that man was made in Gods image states that the Sun, Moon, and stars were created solely to provide light for him. That would mean there is no universe, and therefore there can be no other intelligent life. Many people, myself among them, believe the lessons of the Bible should be taken metaphorically not literally, to use it as a science textbook is to miss the beauty of the message it contains.

Listen there is no other intelligent life. Listen in the book of
TITUS 3:8,9
8) This is a faithful saying, and these things i will that thou affirm constantly, that they which have believed in God might be careful to maintain good works. These things are good and profitable unto men.
9) But avoid foolish questions, and genealogies, and contentions, and strivings about the law; for they are unprofitable and vain.

When a person is serious about their soul, the questions and answers that they seek are seriously coming from their heart. So again I pray for all who are willing to come to the Lord truthfully. The kingdom of God is at hand for those who are not taking the religion of God seriously. And for those who are I pray your strength in the Lord. Amen

The statement, " God created humans in his own image", is biblical. The bible was written by men. A man made up that statement. That statement cannot be taken as fact because there is no proof. Anyway, why does God have to look like anything?

I do not personally feel that the Bible means a literal likeness or physical likeness. It is talking about the creative spirit, the eternal soul, the desire for knowledge and truth, and the ability to love and sacrifice. And for the record I am a Christian. Evolution and even possible life on other planets are not considered impossible in the Catholic Church just unknown at this time.
Peace of Christ,

Are we so vain that we think, this is all of God's creation. Though the bible really doesn't speak of it(other lifeforms). God did create everything we know. Maybe there is other life beyond what we has mortal humans can conceive. That question will be answered in time. My God can do all things.I guess we will all see some day.Until then ,God has gave us all we need to know for now.

Maybe the two species have already met and the rest of the world has been left in the dark to maintain the sanity of humans. If there is good and bad in everyone, then its safe to say that there are good and bad aliens. We as humans are so busy fighting with ourselves that maybe we need an alien invasion to cut the bullshit out of everyones life. Word! God has already figured it out.........just relax.

God made everything in his own image. If God is omnipotent, he has the ability to make his image anything. Therefore, god looks like whatever he wants. The idea of god appearing human only exists because we want god to appear human, or god wants to appear human.

Or both races could be wrong and there is no sentient superdeity.

Gods image can be both like ours and theirs
God took the image of Jesus
and God takes the image of the Holy Spirit

if God tell the aliens He made them in His image He did
and
if God told us He made us in His image He did

i sorta consider the bible to be a history for OUR world. so i don't believe that all other distant life woul dbe in the image of God. i do believe that, statistically, there HAS to be other life out there. and ya know, being that no one has really seen the big guy, he could just have a completely obscure appearance or one different to every person on earth. it's hard to judge. i mean, he created us in his image, and not the angels (this is one of ther easons satan rebelled. he was jealous that humans were made in Gods image and angels were something different) however, all art depicting angels, save the islamic art, make them look just like winged humans! it's impossible to say, but if there is other life, they probaby have their own bible, different histories, stories, people, plots and such... fun question.
