Personally, I would prefer a Muslim. Most people in the United States believe in a higher power, that there is something greater than all of us. While Americans are neither Muslims or atheists, Atheists disagree with this notion of the lack of a higher power, and, therefore, be even more out of step...

It should be noted, however, that whatever religion or lack thereof, separation of church and state should be observed (and when i say that, I refer not to EXCLUDING religion from society as a whole, which is the current mode of political correctness in my opinion) and religious views should not be forcibly imposed upon the general populous.

I wouldn't care. I wouldn't judge people based on the color of their skin or their religion, and would concentrate more on their political platforms. All people that say that just because a person is an athiest or a muslim doesn't mean that they are any less fit to run this country than anyone else. As long as they don't push anything onto the rest of us and do a good job, I could care less who was in the white house.

Why does the religion really matter? We're supposed to choose because they're worthy to become the president. Because they have a good leader personality. Their religion is their business. And shouldn't come in the way of other stuff. If the athiest would be a better president, i'd pick him. If the muslim would be a better president, i'd pick him.

atheist. Basically we've already had a few of those. Once we get to the point that we elect a muslim president, then all other religions will be outlawed. That's happened in every country on the planet so far. Once their population hits 50%, everyone else is doomed.

If it really ever came down to having to choose, I'd go with the Atheist. As a Christian, a Christian president would be dandy if he had the best interest of the people and country at heart which is his main job.

Muslim, however religion and state should be kept seperate. I would especially love to see that from a Muslim President, since historically they have always melded the two. It would be a great example to set to the rest of the world.

I would probably have to say that I would vote for the Atheist. If the Muslim guy came into office, then all these Muslims would flock into the country and totally invade the church.

Not sure which I would prefer, but an Atheist will be before a Muslim is. People would tolerate no religion before they would tolerate one that is vastly different from what this country was founded on.

Aethiest, they are more open to things like abortion, availability of contraception, and stem cell research. I don't live in the US but our prime minister follows whatever Bush does, so I think an aethiest would make a refreshing change. The probably wouldn't get voted in though, damn bible belt.

Athiest.
But why would you put those two choices out there? Why not Muslim or Jew. I think any President should leave his/her Religion at the Church and run the country for ALL of us. Ever heard of seperation of Church and State????
