Boones Long lake Inn / Traverse City Michigan. The home of the "96'er" or so it seems. Actually it's a very secluded high class outdoorsy place lot's of atmosphere. I go there every time I visit Traverse city. If fact hopefully you'll have to wait a while so you can meet some nice people at the bar.

The best depends on what food you like and where you are.
In Washington here the best place i've been to is called Claim-Jumpers. Good food.
Yet when I worked at a restuarant in our town we had the best sandwiches and burgers in about a 20-30 mile radius (what can I say? I make a damn good sandwich)
And I've had pizza at a place called Rock Pasta, which was fantastic, some of the best pizza i've had.

Most of the best restaurants wont be chains (Big corporations). When in a certain city research online good places to dine at.
Some OK chain restaurants are:
California Dreaming
The Cheesecake Factory
Outback
Longhorn
Carabbas
