This is called "binge eating" its a disorder much like bulemia.
You eat & eat and this helps you feel better. But eating like this
will only add pounds to you! You probably are depressed -
I would suggest a total work-up & then some meds and some
counseling. I do this too - food is kinda like a tool to make one
feel better when this is not the real issue. You need to get deep
inside and find out what is bothering you.

You can't eat and get happy. It justs don't work that way.
I used to eat a whole gallon of ice cream - not anymore, but I
did it and now I am almost 50 pounds over what I should be.
Happiness can only be found by serving the Lord Jesus Christ.
Give your heart to Him today and He will heal you and make you
into a new creature in Him. That is the way to true happiness.
Good luck!

do not have a lot of food in the house esp snack type foods-replace with apples, raisins, carrot and celery sticks because this is not a fast fix problem--do not buy sugary foods, chips for if you don't have in the house then you can't eat9oops almost forgot ice cream don't---treat yourself 1Xper week by going out to treat yourself. Also call your Community Service Board (County) and tell your problem(s) for you need some group and individual therapy to understand why you are not happy and how to be happy without using food-that's a vicious cycle for you eat to be happy gain weight get depressed then eat to feel good and and so on and so on. You need to learn that happiness, joy comes from inside you-do you go to church you may wish to start and get involved for being busy can help.Try being a foster mom.dad or just a Mentor to a child- Call DFCS for sometimes happiness comes by making someone else happy and children are such fun. Good Luck

According to the reading I have done regarding hypoglycemia (low blood sugar), the brain, when it senses that blood sugar is low, will do sometimes strange things to get the blood sugar (glucose) out of storage and into the blood stream. If it does not get what it wants it may cause depression, boredom and loneliness.

Suggestion? Go to the kitchen and eat, but change what you eat and how much you eat. Get some protein, meat, a can of tuna or whatever, and eat it. Also have some carbohydrate, like an apple, or some carrots/celery and also some nuts or peanut butter. Eat at least 2 ounces of the protein. Then drink a glass of water and do something active for 30 minutes, like walking, singing or dancing. You may find your boredom and depression have lessened a bit.

Chronic low blood sugar can also cause self-esteem problems, anger management problems and a whole bunch of other physical and mental nasties. You may want to check out the symptoms link on www.hufa.org, and see how you check out.

Your depression is fresh and you need to give the brain time to reverse the chemical changes. As long as you are alone you will return to normal even if it is boring. The mind will be interested in something unless you have had a severe depression shock over sex and love and you are going into a psychosis. After your expectations have been changed and become more real you will not become psychotic so easily. Avoid what really sent you spinning like sexual things. If you get on meds it will take longer to recover. You must get a new friend who never knew you before. Just ignore the food thing.

Excess food only makes things worse. However, if you are craving, I do have a suggestion that helped me a lot. I was a sugaroholic all day long -- this included bad carbs that convert to sugar in our systems. I start each day with an all protein breakfast. This gets your natural sugar levels started at an even keel for the day and you don't crave as much. Give it some time. It took me about a week to adjust, but I've been losing weight just from this simple change because I'm able to say no to junk food. Best of luck to you in losing weight.

I do the same thing. Some people when they get stressed out can't eat at all, I eat more. Food has always been comforting to me. It sounds to me like you are depressed and may need to see a doctor and see if medication could help you. I felt so much better as soon as I found the right anti-depressent for me. It also helps to keep yourself busy or evan join some sort of support group.

Compulsive over eating is an eating disorder just like bulimia and anorexia. It is more than just not doing it or changing what you eat. You are binge eating and it is very unhealthy. You need to get to the root of you depression/emptiness and find healthier and safer ways to manage it. I would definitely suggest that you speak with a mental health care specialist. People often realize the dangers of bulimia and anorexia but not compulsive overeating. Sweetie, please speak to someone so you can regain control of your life. Best wishes.

Been there. The best advice I can give to you is PUT DOWN THE FORK, and call your doctor, or have a friend call for you (that's what I had to do, I had this weird phone phobia along with the depression). Once you start getting better you won't know how you let yourself get this down. It is fixable, and it will get better. All the best.
