When Peter was asked point blank "What must I do to be saved?" He answered : "Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost." Acts 2:38
This is not the teaching of the Catholic Church.
If they claim Peter as their first pope, then they clearly changed the message, and the Bible warns against that!

If they taught the same message as Peter brought, the church would have refrained from giving so much authority to power grabbing hypocrits. As it is, it became an extension of the Roman Empire of Jesus day but added the word Holy so as to give it the moral authority to begin mass murders and wars for God's greater glory and the enrichment of the church and it has never stopped.

Catholics may baptize, but Peter never baptized any infants. I find it funny that the Roman Catholic Church thinks it in needed to lie to trick people into believing that Christ is the way. Is the truth not good enough? The truth will make you free (John 8:32).

The Catholic Church that we know today was not started by Jesus. The pope was originally the bishop of Rome and the church that we know today did not form until around 320 A.D.

That was back in the days when people needed to come to believe who Christ was. Now many of us grow up knowing who He is. Belief is still necessary, Baptism is necessary too, and we believe that Confirmation bestows on a person the gift of the Holy Spirit. What is the difference? Belief alone will not save you. Satan BELIEVES that Jesus is the Christ but that won't save him. He doesn't follow Him. The same with quoting scriptures as we are told that Satan can quote that too and yet that does him no good either. Belief requires action. Salvation is a gift. When one is given a gift one need not ask for that gift one need only pick it up, say thank you and hold onto that gift. Like any gift it can be wasted or thrown away. What exactly has the Catholic Church left out?

Blah, blah, blah. Like you're SO versed in what the Catholic church teaches. It's obvious you want to discredit the church to justify your Protestant beliefs, despite the fact that the Catholic church was the one church started by Jesus Christ himself when he left it in the hands of Peter. Your religion was started by a man 1,600 years later. Might as well be Branch Davidian, as far as I'm concerned. But at least you got one part right - Peter is the first pope. Now why don't you go to your nearest Catholic church and talk to a priest about your confusion in the hopes that you might find the true way and save your soul from eternal damnation?

Every fully initiated Catholic is baptized. In fact the Catholic Church states that Baptism is necessary for salvation.

Every fully initiated Catholic has repented of their sins, probably many times. We are constantly called to repentance, at every Mass, during Confession, during the Anointing of the Sick, etc.

If fact the entire world wide Church sets aside 40 days a year especially for repentance and spends this time in prayer, fasting and alms giving. This time is called Lent.

With love in Christ.

Clearly you have not studied the Catholic Church's doctrine enough to know WHAT it teaches. The Catholic Church does hold that baptism is necessary, that it cleanses us from sin and welcomes us into God's family.....and that the Holy Spirit does take up home in the newly baptized.

You are absolutely correct in your understanding about the Catholic Church. In truth, they have nothing to do with the true faith concerning the things of Christ. To take it a step further but still remain within the boundries of the truth, the Catholic Church is actually the very "enemy" of true Christianity and Jesus Christ. They are nothing more than hypocrites who are actually a political power who operates under (or rather hides under) the clothe. The Catholic Church is in truth, "Antichrist".

Here's something else they ignore as well - Peter was Jewish. When was the last time you saw a Jewish pope, cardinal, bishop etc.? Christianity missed the whole point centuries ago - its all about Judaism - Jesus' followers and people of the time called him "rabbi" and not "father" or any of that Christian mumbo-jumbo. Doesn't it stand to reason then that Judaism is the real religion?

of course the church preaches this. I am protestant myself, and christianity has evolved with the times, but that doesn't mean that you should dismiss the core message. Besides, that statement was from a time when they were going out with the message for the first time, and not in a time when entire societies are "christian".

What makes you think that this is not the Catholic Church's teaching? All Catholics are baptized.
