Whether he said that or not, I wouldn't trust him with my life.
On one hand, he could simply be a man of faith, to be respected. Or, he could simply be showing that he is clueless and doesn't want you to blame him if things don't work out, in other words: incompetent.
Regardless, if your life is on the line, always get a second opinion, do some research (webmd.com is good for that) and educate yourself as much as you can so that you can make an informed decision.
One problem with society is blind following. True, he's a doctor and the expert, but he's not the only expert, and as long as you're able to be honest with yourself and not just pick the diagnosis that "makes you happy," but are able to try to pick what you believe is the most accurate, then this is what you should do.
And, it is my belief that God is the Healer, not the doctor, so if you are a person of faith, then pray and seek for signs (God ALWAYS gives us signs!!) of the correct direction.
Take care!

GOD gave us DOCTOR's and Nurse's (Ditto).
GOD gave us FAITH.
If you can't get your Healing by FAITH, GO TO THE DOCTOR, and take what FAITH you have with you.(and take your pills, etc).
Do you know one WAY GOD ALMIGHTY Heal's us??? The Human Body is an incredible Physical Machine, with some very Strong Healing Capabilitie's. GOD controll's TIME, some Healing's of GOD is Simply GOD Speeding up the Human Bodie's Healing Process's.
Other Healing's are an actual Recreation of the Body Part or Area it's self.
If you have Confidence in your Doctor, you should be able to trust him with your Life, oh, and don't forget to PRAY TOO, for Both of you! Hope this help's.

When people pray, they focus their attention on the problem they are hoping to fix. For people who believe in god, many gods, or are just spiritual, prayer usually has the same kind of affect as positive mindfulness meditation. Positive energy is focused on healing. Just as chemicals can influence our thoughts, our thoughts can influence our chemicals. Therefore, thinking positively and focusing your thoughts in the form of prayer can actually have a tangible effect on the body's physical ability to heal. Sure, a doctor will say something like this in order to instill hope in a time of distress, but she may also view prayer as another kind of medicine. Healing occurs spontaneously- it is just up to the doctor and the patient as a team to catalyze that reaction.

Yes I would. There have actually been research that shows an obvious difference in healing if prayer is included. Mind you I said included not the sole treatment. I would seek a doctor that believed in medicine and God.

Having faith is believeing in things unseen. Yes I believ that prayer can heal, Fact is many studies have been done and have found that Prayer is a big part of healing. Many different reason have been given for this, but the bottom line is that Prayer is a big part of healing.

Yes as long as he didnt say it was the ONLY healer. God gives us our own power but I also believe that he had a hand in giving the Dr. the power to help out as well.

No way, what a cop out. Oh gee thanks doc can I pay you now? I would probably think I was going to die bc that is like saying blame god not me I'm throwing in the towel. I would want a new doc for that reason and also bc this doctor obviously didn't bother to know the first thing about me making such a statement.

If you are a spiritual person yes....but if you are fatally ill and the doctor tell you this,it could only do you good to pray.Prayer can give you hope and lift your spirits, your physical health depends on your mental health and vice versa, don't you find yourself moody when you are sick .....if you stay happy and hopeful you will get through it a lot faster.
You can always trust in God to guide you.

no, I don't think that most doctors believe in that because most are scientifically oriented and would never suggest that in a patient/ doctor relationship, so I would not trust the doctor to do his job however, I DO believe that prayer can heal

This is such a ridiculously stupid question. Do you know how many children die of simple, easily cured sicknesses because they're religous-fanatic parents prevented them from getting the treatment that science has developed? When you are willing to let you're child die rather than question you're religion, you are officially a fanatic and you're ability to care for your child/children should be seriously put into question.
