This material world is hopeless, loveless, joyless and very dark.
We have to look really hard to find good because this material world is made to give the freedom of darkness.
Essentially people have turned away from the all-good God. People have turned away from their true eternal nature that is all good. In the darkness of illusion people cannot see the all-good spirit in all beings. Consequently, people mistreat other beings human or other.
To find goodness, hope, love and joy we need to realize that we are in the material world. This material body is temporary and so we should not give so much importance to this material body and material enjoyment.
We need to take up a process that will help us towards awakening of our true eternal all-good self. We need to take up a process such as Dharma and Yoga. We need to discover Bhakti Yoga.

The world is only hopeless, loveless and joyless if you believe it to be so. You're the one who determines your outlook on life, no one else. Just because the media loves to play up the bad, the hopeless, the horrid, doesn't mean you have to be a sheep and believe what they're selling...because that's what they're doing, selling.
You want the world to have hope? Be hopeful. You want the world to know love? Then love. You want the world to experience joy? Then bring some joy into someone's life.
You may not change the entire world in a single moment, but you can change the life of someone else...and maybe, they'll return that favor...be it nothing more than they decide to be a little less impatient, and a little kinder to a stranger. Better yet, you'll change your own life.

No, I definately do not feel that way. This may sound cliche"ish", but life is what you make of it. And down deep everyone likes to think of themselves as good. How about the boy scout who knocks on the door asking for soda bottles and the person gives him some, or the person putting spare change in the collection box at the cashier counter, or the "goodie pkgs we send the soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan? There is definately good in the world you just have to take time to see it.

because good people usually try to hide themselves for they are judged before they can do anything to prove who they are.people's virtues is unfortunately being siphoned away by many things or they simply don't develop them, which is also unfortunate. a person can gain or lose anything they choose look at where you have been in life learn what is you greatest strength and push forward. everyone gains there virtues from experience but, only if they learn from there experiences.

No, we must have spiritual discernment. Good is in everyone because of God. Sin has taken away virtue and innocence. We as believer must show our love to those who have lost that virtue. We must be Christ-like examples daily!

I am living proof that life is the exact opposite of all three of the values you present. Don't look for virtues in others. Look for those virtues in yourself. Then you'll find the good you're looking for, and be able to develop them to their highest. Trust me on this one. God Bless you.

i dont believe that we have to look really hard to find good. good is all around you, you just have to open you eyes. honestly. i dont think that all people have lost their "virtues" i think we focus on the bad. just look at the new. how often is there a good story on the new. i think the real question is, how can we start focusing on the good in people instead of always looking for the bad?

We have to look so hard because we as a society have been brainwashed that sin exists. It is a myth created by early religious and political leaders to control the masses through fear.
Hope, love and joy are here. You don't find them externally, you find them within. To find hope, love and joy, be them for another.
