Milk has a natrual enzyme that makes people fall asleep. Turkey has this same enzyme. Sleey time tea works fairly well. White noise such as a fan can help with meditation and putting you in a relaxed state of mind. If all else fails, bendaryl can help very well. Not benadryl allergy but just plain benadryl.

Most people who can't sleep can just simply change their diet or routine to solve this problem.

If you are drinking pop or coffee or any caffinated drink a few hours before bed time, stop this.

Don't eat anything a few hours before bed either.

Go to bed at the same time every night whether it is a weekday or a weekend. This establishes a normal sleeping routine for the brain to recongnize.

Don't take medication a few hours before bed. If you take med's take them in the morning or afternoon or dinner but not at bed time.

Sometimes a radio playing lighty or a TV going can let you fall asleep as some people focus too much if it is pitch black and quiet.

A warm bath before bed can help relax the muscles and the mind. Water naturally relaxes the human body.

Don't smoke the last 30 minutes you are up if you smoke.

Try to do a normal routine each night. If you are on the computer until bed time this is not good. The brain is too active while on the computer to go from this to bed. A half hour of TV or reading should be the last thing you do before bed. This allows the brain to slowly turn off sections that it doesn't need. Allows the brain to zone out and not have any real thinking processes.

Sex or masturbation is a good sleeping pill as well. Natural chemicals are released into the body after sexual pleasures.

If you lay in bed for 30 minutes and do not fall asleep, don't stay in bed and toss and turn. This will only make you stay up longer. Get up, turn on the TV for 15-30 minutes to put the brain back into zone mode and then try to fall asleep again.

Some people lay down in bed and then start thinking of things they have to get done. People they need to contact, etc. This will make it about impossible to sleep.

The last trick I have that I use to use when overly stressed. Lay in bed and mentally picture a black wall. Then picture that wall being painted a darker shade of black. Then again, again, again, I would normally never get past 6-8 coats of paint and I would be out cold.

Climb into bed. Pull up covers. Turn light off. Lay head on pillow. Nitey-nite.

I'm sorry. I don't have that problem. Are you getting enough exercise during the day? Are you really tired when you go to bed? Are you mulling over the day and planning your tomorrow's agenda? Finding a way to block these things from your mind will certainly aid in being able to relax so you can drift off to sleep.

I have trouble falling asleep and I don't like to take pills. I usually read until I fall asleep. Eventually, your eyes will get tired and you will fall asleep before you realize it. I can't tell you how many times I wake up in the morning with my lamp on and the book underneath me!

To young people sometimes it's hard to sleep right away at night due to their homework or things that they have to do first before going to bed. It's different with older persons, some can sleep right away after a hard days work and to some of course if they have problem sleeping. You did not state your age, but I assume that your are of the younger generation.
Try to do some exercises before you go to bed. Maybe an hour or so before you really go to bed. I hope this helps.

I have lots of trouble sleeping too. The best thing for me is to listen to an Audio book. It allows you to get involed with the sotry without having to really focus like you would if you were having to sit up and read. Also, the other advantage is you don't need a light!!!

Reading a book will do the trick or maybe just sitting in a rocking chair for awhile like I do.I have nights that I need to rock to get sleepy enough to sleep.

You can get Valerian supplements from your local health food store. Or you can try chamomile tea or Tension Tamer tea (made by Celestial Seasonings).

I don't know whether or not you drink coffee or other caffeinated beverages, but you might want to consider reducing your caffeine intake, too.

Here are a couple of suggestions: Consider, if you can't sleep, just getting up and working on something. If you are thinking about something deeply, just get up and start taking notes. Sometimes just getting it out of your system will help you. Another is something that has helped me -- sleeping on magnetic bedding. I have a great sleep system that gets me into a deep sleep and keeps me there. It also puts my cats right out!
