Because of people like you, leaders of the world’s richest countries met in July 2005 and made a number of historic promises to help end the kind of extreme poverty that is needlessly killing 9,000 people a day in Africa. Millions of lives and the future of a continent are at stake.

And I would like to see if I get 30,000 answers to this question.

careful, I copied the same question substituting poverty for the word Bono and got a violation.

In answer to you question, if we got rid of the poor people we would have no poverty. I think it is starting to work in Afghanistan, we just need to up the body count.

It's a nice thought....a pipe dream to be sure, but still a nice thought. The thing that gets me is why the world looks to the U.S. for support in everything. In our own country we have starvation, poverty, and homelessness. That's not to say I don't care about other people of the world,I do.But shouldn't we take care of our own country before we start funneling millions into another countries problems? Peace to all....

When I was little my mommy sent all the food we didn't eat to the poor kids in China. At least that is what she said. Perhaps if we had a table scraps food drive it might be helpful. Good luck with your quest.

Is 27 close enough? I think if everyone on the planet did their part to feed themselves and their young daily, this would end it permanently and forever. History.
Who here doesn't own a computer? Anyone?

We can't erdicate poverty because it's definition keeps changing i.e. In Britain you are considered poor if you don't own a car, DVD player or a computer.

We could burgle the houses of wealthy rockstars whilst they are out publicising their good deeds. Then sell all their valuables back to them and give the proceeds to Robert Mugabe (This idea's very early days!)

Wouldn't that have happened already if it could be done.
One factor is all this money being given, goods being sent to poor countries.....most of that never sees the light of day. Greed prevails and it always will.

Take every bit of money in the entire world and divide it up equally between every man woman and child and in one year there will be rich people and poor people.

I bet if we could get Bono and every one of his artist friends to donate their earnings for one year to a world-wide poverty charity, we could put quite a dent in it!
