Because it is the truth. This causes those who don't want to be believe it to react greatly against it.

Because in this part of the world, Christianity is the most dominant religion (the most populous of all religions, if I'm not mistaken), and the most outspoken. It's a hard thing to miss in today's world -- I think that everyone knows someone who's Christian, in America, so eventually, everyone's going to have an opinion about it. Maybe it's different in other countries overseas. Oh, and the fact that the Pope is such a big figure in the world also adds to our fame -- or infamy, depending on who you're talking to.
I'd bet that if any other religion were more popular around here, it'd be the most debated and argued with, just as Christianity is right now.

This a true and a very honest question. The reasons for this can be found in the following:
a. If Christianity is true then all other religious beliefs that do not coincide with it are untrue.
"Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." (John 14:6 NIV)
b. Christianity is the only major religion whose God came back to life and has an empty tomb. All others are dead.
c. Jesus said He was God. There is no middle line with Christianity. One cannot accept Jesus as merely a great teacher or a great example. One has to come to wits with the question whether He was God or not.
d. This is the most contentious part since it goes away with all conventional wisdom. Only Christianity (Protestants) say that one is saved by faith alone! All religions say you must do this and do that to go to heaven. The Bible says accept that you are a sinner and what Jesus did on the cross was complete for your ticket to heaven.
Total reliance on God from ones daily life (resulting to actions not understood by others) and to the point that one goes to the after life.
These are the things that makes the world love or hate Christianity.

Because the highest population of Christians is centered right here in the good old USofA. And as you know, we have free speech and we use it, for good and for bad. We argue, we question, we dispute what we're taught. We're Americans flexing our freedoms.
That would be the "why" to your question. I don't know that argued WITH is really true, as much as argued ABOUT.
And if you change "with" to "about," then I don't believe your question has an honest basis in fact.
Nearly everybody on this planet has an argument "about" or even "with" some other religion - or ALL other religions. This is just human nature.
My high school football team is better than yours. Because it's mine. My religion is better than yours. Because it's mine. My kid is better looking than yours. Because it's mine. This is just how people are, and historically some take their self-pride to extremes and try to force their beliefs or cultures on other people.
Look at history. Jews have always been hated. Think Ireland and their age-old fight over Catholicism or Protestantism (which both fall under the heading "Christianity"). Look at the stew Dan Brown has cooked up with his novel about the DaVinci Code. Or the whole Crusade debacle back in the middle ages. The current AND ancient feelings about Muslims and Islam. Do you think the ageless wars in China were only about possession of land?
No, it isn't just Christianity, and it isn't just a current thing. This is mankind in action, everyone doing what they "think" or have been "told" is what their God wants them to do.
I believe there is one true God. Perhaps He has just manifested Himself to the world in many different ways - like a teacher who has to make something understood to their class, but has to use varying methods of teaching in order to make certain every single student in the class understands the lesson.
It's when mankind starts putting their own spin on things, that stuff gets out of hand. At least in America we can argue these points without being put before a firing squad.
Just a thought.

Really? I thought secular humanism was the most agued religion, just not many people know it.
Why do people have so much to say about Christianity? Well what does the Bible say? There is only one way to be saved, and that is through Christ. There is a fallen angel and his followers going around and trying to stop as many people as possible from getting to know Christ.
Obviously the Devil inspires non-Christians to attack the believfs of Christians and the Christians have no choice but to defend themselves.

It really depends on what culture you live in. It's not the same all over the world. I think in any area there's going to be people who are going to have a lot to say for or against the predominant religion in that area. In the case of the West, it's Christianity. We live in a predominantly Judeo-Christian society, many people in the West grew up Christian, Christianity has had a lot of influence in the West, therefore it's going to be the religion that most people in the West are going to have the strongest opinions about, one way or another.
It'd be the same with Islam in the Middle East, or Hinduism in India, or Buddhism over in the East. I think it's the way to break out of the mold that we grew up in, for those of us who grew up in a culture primarily influenced by Christianity. It sort of might be a way for those of us who live on the fringes to cope...sort of the recovery process, if you will.
I used to have strong opinions about Christianity when I first left the religion, but not anymore. Far as I'm concerned it's no longer my path, therefore the issues surrounding it are no longer my issues. I know not everyone feels the same though.

I don't know if that's true but it it is, it's probably because Christianity is slowly but surely falling apart. More and more people are seeing that it's nothing but badly written stories. Through education, it's very foundation crumbles a little bit more everyday. The Christians are trying not to let this happen while others hope it does. This is my guess as to why there is so much argument over it, both sides want their voice to be heard.
(Education is religions biggest threat)

Because put simply Chistianity's faith depends on people believing in one true god. Is it possible? Absolutely. But most people in the world don't think faith can answer all their questions. You can believe what they tell you in a 2,000 year old book or you can look for new answers and turn to science or invest your faith into something else. 2 Billion people believe in Christianity while 5 Billion don't and that number for christianity is shrinking because people want more options then if you believe you go to heaven and if you don't then you go to hell. It could be correct, but 5 billion people are willing to seek out other answers. So the answer to your question is simple: Christianity is one of the least 'flexible' religion out there, and for a world that has to be 'flexible' to grow, new answers have to be sought out.

Because most people don't impose their religious beliefs on others but Christians go around condemning other people's religions or decision not to have a religion and telling them they will go to hell if they don't believe like the Christians do. You don't meet Hindus or Buddhists telling their neighbors they have to convert to their religion or their particular sect of Christianity. If they minded their own business no one would be bitching back at them.

Jesus said that He is "...the light of the world...." John 8:12 and in the book of John, Jesus says "And this is the condemnation, that the light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. For everyone practicing evil hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his deeds should be exposed." 19-20. So when Jesus, the ten commandments, or anything that is Godly people get upset because they don't to think that they will be judged by God for what they do. Plus people are on "imma do me" mode and they only do what they want, how they want and when their Creator(GOD) is mentioned they get angry, they get nervous, or they feel guilty. Also because people don't like the words of Jesus because it says what they are doing is wrong and not of God.

In response to the lady above Latter Day Saints have
never murdered droves of people to CONVERT them unlike
Almost ALL other religions! That makes me very happy,
also Latter Day Saints are one of the Newest Christian
Sects. BTW Christianity is by far not the newest
religion.
Anyways to answer your question I think it is for many reasons
I think people just like to argue and rebel. Just like in
politics, even scientists argue with eachother on their
own theories so I dont think we ought to take it
personally, people just like to bad mouth each other.
