mutt

I love any kind of Lab, Golden Retrievers, German Shepherds. The best thing to do is go to the pound and find a dog that needs a home. Mutts are great too.

Depends on the activity level and personality you are looking for. Pure breds are great, but generally all purebred dogs have genetic defects...the best dogs I have ever owned are the ones from the shelter (I have four - all but one is a mutt). They have personality and truly need a copmmitted home.

Depends on your circumstances and your energy level. If I were actually going to choose a dog(instead of just taking the ones that come to me)I would be tempted to get a pit bull. They're really smart, but they are high-energy and need a lot of attention.Labs are good, but they get big.Do you need a small dog?Do not get a poodle.Ok,you could get one,but they tend to be temperamental and like to bite.Wire haired terriers are cute and can be sweet.I would just go to a shelter and pick a mutt that calls to you. They need homes.Good luck.

I have had 4 dogs

a chihuahua= very loving to ONE person, miserable to the rest of the human race.

a chow chow=vicious to everyone including me and my family (very scary around kids)

a welsh corgi= loving but very picky and shy, nervous when left alone and around kids.

a chocolate labrador retriever(current)= the best dog in the world, energetic at the appropriate times, a companion, a guard dog, a sports partner (running, hiking, swimming, etc.), great with kids, etc.

Below are links to dog breed selectors. You answer some questions about your lifestyle, what size dog you want, and if you want it to shed and it tells you what breed of dog will do the best with you. Try them all because they may give slightly different breeds and ask slightly different questions.

well... you would want to choose if you wanted a toy breed, medium sized, or large. larger dogs are sometimes long-haired which shed a whole lot. toy breeds dont shed as much. if you search through google, and type in dog breed directory go to animal planet one. ok? you can find some really good info on dogs.

you opened a can of worms, do you know how many answers you are going to get! you have to know your situation, the living conditions, you can't just say what is the best dog to get? Personally, I would suggest Miniature Schnauzers but, there are many people that will disagree with me, they have a wonderful personality, playful, smart and are quick to learn.
