Hello from Maine,

I have this new 3 hour audio lesson that I need to memorize.

Maybe I watch too many cartoons with my daughter... but I was wondering, if I play it on repeat while I sleep will I learn it?

Thank you!
Craig

From my personal experience, I think I can learn "a little bit" in my sleep like that but not very well. Also, from what I can remember, doing this makes me sleep less well and I wake up tired and feeling as if I have not slept. Not a very good feeling/consequence. That's why I stopped doing it.

I hope this helps.

According to the web site below, the answer is "no". However, sleeping can help you learn if you do it right. The following example is provided on the site..
"Do you need to memorize a poem for language class or a speech for tomorrow's presentation? Read it through several times before falling asleep. Try to commit it to memory. Then, off to bed and to sleep and let the brain do the rest. You'll be surprised at how much you retain."

We discussed this in my psychology class last week. Studies have been done on this subject and from what i can recall my professor saying is once you go into a REM sleep your body doesn't take in any outside info. such as TV and audio players and stuff like that. So once you are asleep that's a rap, just sleep no learning.

No-when you sleep so does your brain-only subconscious working-what you dream with but for memory and learning you need to be awake-----the theory that if you listen to audio your subconscious will pick up doesn't work for even if it does there is no order etc and besides when you're awake you are not aware of whats going on in your subconscious.

It depends on the person, but give it a try. I've heard this works for some. I know if I keep the radio on, I will wake with a song stuck in my head.

Good luck.

i think you can, if you go to sleep during hypnosis and learn i would think that normal sleep would be the same. Good on you for spending time with your daughter also!

They say it's possible, but I think you have to go over it while you're awake first. But it you have time listen to it first at night and then listen again in the morning and see if anything sounds familiar.

We actually just learned this in psychology class :D

No, unfortunately, it's not possible. If your brain is not conscious, it cannot encode the information you hear, and thus cannot retain it.

if you listen to it once while awake and then "review it" while sleeping... i think that will work of course that's just what i think... good luck :)
