YES, THEY CAN SPREAD IT TO YOU.

Ringworm is contagious and can be passed from person to person.

Non-prescription anti-fungal creams, also used to treat “jock itch” and athletes foot, can help control the rash, and maybe even clear it up the infection (for example, Lotrimin®).

However, the most common approach to treating ring worm is to visit the doctor for a prescription medicine. There are all sorts of drugs you can get from the doctor, but they're usually a combination anti-fungal (to "kill" the fungus) and a steroid (to relieve some of the itch).

I COPIED THIS FROM A WEB SITE I FOUND. HOPE IT HELPS.

The most common sources of the fungi that cause tinea infections are other people. Ringworm is contagious and is easily spread from one person to another, so avoid touching an infected area on another person. It's also possible to become infected from contact with animals, like cats and dogs.

It can be difficult to avoid ringworm because the dermatophyte fungi are very common. To protect yourself against infection, it can help to wear flip-flops on your feet in the locker room shower or at the pool, and to wash sports clothing regularly. Because fungi are on your skin, it's important to shower after contact sports and to wash your hands often, especially after touching pets.

If you discover a red, patchy, itchy area that you think may be ringworm, call your doctor.

I dont know where the idea began that ringworm is much more commonly spread from humans than from animals, but I do know that it is not correct. Tinea faciei, ringworm of the face, for instance, is almost always from a pet and seldom from an infected human (http://www.emedicine.com/derm/topic740.htm)

Ringworm is the most common zoonosis (disease spread from animals to man) http://www.thepetprofessor.com/articles/article.aspx?id=361

Even cat lovers concede these facts http://www.marvistavet.com/html/body_ringworm.html

It's possible, but rare. Most likely your ring worm was acquired from contact with another person.

Ring worm is contagious & it's caused by a fungus. (Similar to the fungal infection called 'athletes foot'). It can be treated with an anti-fungal cream.
