Right Click the Start button and choose Properties
Go to the Start Menu tab
Click on Customize
Go to the Advanced tab
Uncheck the box that says List my most recently open documents
(You can also clear the list while there)

Right click start button > properties > start menu tab > customize button > advanced tab > uncheck the "list my most recently opened documents" box.

You can also clear your recent documents from here.

Just empty the folder :)
