Are you kidding me? Did you not know when you married him that he was obsessed with football? There's nothing you can do that will have any lasting impact. Let him have his fun. At least he's not chasing after other women. Try to either get into the game yourself, at least enough that you can have a coherent conversation about it, or else just leave him to it, and find yourself a passtime that interests you.
My husband and I couldn't care less about sports, but we have a 14 year old son who has been avidly interested in sports since he was 5 or 6. He doesn't do drugs, doesn't get into any trouble, has a big heart, and is generally very well adjusted. Even though he sometimes drives me crazy talking about sports scores and athletes, it is a very small price to pay for knowing he's not into something less wholesome.

offer him more options. use whatever he likes including yourself... im sure he is more interested in you having sex with him more... make plans to drive him crazy or offer him a bj... lol... also not to be mean but atleast he is obsessive or something harmless, some guys tend to be obsessive over other things. Things that could hurt your relationship. Be thankful that he is only obsessed with football. :) There are a heck of alot more things he could be doing that are far worse

I'll trade you!!! My husband watches football once a year...the Superbowl. The only catch is, he does nothing around the house. I'd gladly take a football addict over a blob who sits around all day while doing absolutely nothing constructive or helpful.

Invite a female friend over, and the both of you walk by the by nude when he is watching football. Works every time. But don't try if by yourself.

umm...that's not gonna happen. (most) Men, by nature, are hooked on sports, especially Pro football...it's part of his genes.
The best advice, before it jeopardizes your marriage, is to sit down with him when his favorite game is on, have him explain how to play the sport and what to look for on TV, choose a team as your favorite (not necessarily the one he likes) and cheer for them when they play.
If you try and change his "obsession", he will rebel against you and life together will never be the same.

You don't. If you love him, you learn the rules, buy the beer and chips and sit beside him while he watches. I've done this for years and I love him AND football now.

You could get more into than he is. Then that may turn him away from it, or maybe even bring you guys closer. You truly love him and want him to be happy, you could be more involved with it just cause you love him sooo much.

Just be happy he's not obsessed with floral arrangements or having perfectly manicured eyebrows. If he does that, then you should worry.
