My hair is normally brown but I have some blonde highlights in right now. I need something cute and easy for an event coming up.

I have the same hair type as you try putting a side braid in and leaving it in for at least 3 hours...

try leaving it down but parting it off to the side... it's really cute and very easy!

try loose curls in an updo....i also have long hair and if i do large loose "romantic" curls I ALWAYS get compliments. plus, my fiancee loves it.
