How do I know what kind or type or size of memory card I need for my camera??

Its a DIGIMAX A402 from samsung and I dont know which memory card to buy.

Samsung A402 cameras use the SD type of memory card.

If you mean physical size, it would be the standard regular size.

If you mean capacity size, buy the size that fits how many pics you need to keep before downloading to your computer.

A 256 MB card will hold over 150 pics at highest resolution.
A 500 MB card will hold over 300 pics at highest resolution.
and so on...

This info should be available in your Users Manual.
