What you decide to wear depends on what type of setting and wedding plans they have. If you are invited to a very stylish and elaborate wedding, then you may want to get semi-formal...if you are attending one at the JP then you can be dressed casual. Things to consider is weather, season, in-doors, out-doors, etc...In any case, be comfortable and enjoy, besides you are there to celebrate their special day...not yours

It depends on the time and place of the wedding - obviously if the wedding is taking place at city hall, the rules are a little more lax. It may be a beach wedding where you could get away with wearing a sundress. An evening wedding maybe more formal, you might be given a clue on the invite. Don't feel like you can't wear pants. I once wore a fitted business suit and dressed it up with the jewelry and heels I had decided to coordinate with the outfit.

Been to lots of weddings courtesy of having so many cousins. You can wear a very nice pants suit. You don't want it to be masculine, but feminine looking and pastel colored not black. You could wear a skirt outfit that also is light colored. You can wear pants to many weddings. The only time you have to wear a specific outfit, ie dress, is when the wedding states that it is formal and then you have to wear a dress like one you would have worn to a debutante ball.

Wear the same thing you would wear to church on Easter Sunday. Something casual formal. Like a skirt and blouse. NEVER EVER wear white to a wedding! Since you don't like dresses, wear a pant suit.

i've been to lots of weddings. you're lucky its in august because you can be a bit more casual at summer weddings. do you like skirts??(I hate dresses but I'll wear a skirt). A skirt with a nice top, or slacks with a nice top too.
What to expect... usually really long and boring exchange of vows, having to wait to eat forever because the bride and gromm are taking pics together, dancing, throwing of the bouquet(don't catch it) overall, weddings tend to be boring.

First find out what the brides color are and then you can dress according to that. If you don't want to wear a skirt you can get a nice pair of dress pants and a nice top to match her colors with a pair of open toe shoes. You'll look nice and be comfortable because those ceremonies can be long. take it from me.

Becaus weddings in August are during the warmer weather if you get a nice bohemian skirt and a glittery top and open toes shoes with a heel should be fine. try to avoid going sleeveless and if you can't take the heat look for a shirt with a cap sleeve so that you can stay cool.

as long as you feel comfortable, my mom wore a pant suit to my wedding. my sister actually wore a top and skirt that she had used the year before for a halloween costume, she also showed up to visit me in the hospital a few months later when my son was born. My wedding was late may so it was starting to warm up so I just made mine casual since we weren't going to be at the church anyway.

i've been to plenty...dress nice...slacks or a skirt work...(not a denim skirt). a sundress is nice...dress like your going to a damn fine resturaunt...but all in all be comphy in what you wear...
you sit in a church, all eyes on the bride and groom, not you...then to a reception to eat, drink and dance or play wedding games...it's like going out to a fun bar with people you know
oh cr@p...just noticed your gothic...black dress slacks and....who are they? the couple...and how old are they? are they family or friends? are they gothic too? i need this before i answer more...is it a church?
my stepson is gothic...he went to a wedding and wore nice leather pants and a white poet shirt...looked pretty sharp
