If you don't have a bachelor's yet, counselors usually recommend a BS in Biology. Pediatricians are Phds in medicine, and not in nursing. If you want to be a pediatric nurse, I'd go for the nursing BS. More credentials= more opportunities, so go for the four-year degree, either way.

As a nursing instructor/nurse I must tell you that only medical school will pay off financially. Secondly, nurses often realize after they are in the field for a short time they are not appreciated or seen as professionals in the health industry. Medical school/pre med is defiantely the way to go.

Make up your mind. Nurse or doctor. None of these two degree have anything in common. In fact, in California, there's a lighter version of General Chemistry (which is for premed students) for non-biology majors.

You're wasting your time thinking like this. Make a choice.

Why don't you check out some med schools and ask them if they accept students with nursing degrees? Obviously you would need a bachelor's, and I would think that someone from, say Penn's nursing school would be qualified for med school. But ask a med school.

Why would you go to nursing school to become a doctor? Go to college, preferably one with a premed program, and start.
