talk to someone you trust - and try doing something productive when you find yourself on your own... try writing poetry or simply just writing... thinking of things that are positive instead of always leaning on the negative will help. alter your way of thinking by simply changing your minds' channel....... do whatever it takes to get away from that line of thinking and seak PROFESSIONAL help now, you are still sooooo young and you have so much life ahead of you. You have a rough road ahead of you in these teen years, but they will pass -- HOLD YOUR HEAD UP HIGH honey, you are much stronger than you're giving yourself credit for :) - talk talk talk.. and spread the word about how you're feeling... maybe your story could help someone else out of their funk too... positive reinforcements are the key... and they start with you!

Best wishes to you

I had the same feelings when I was your age. They lasted for a couple of years, and then things got better when I went to high school, started working, ans was generally able to be more independent. I think it was a combination of hormones, junior high school, problems at home, feeling confused and very out-of-place in a lot of situations, etc. What helped me a lot was finding people I could talk with, especially some older people such as teachers and students several grade levels above me, reading about mental health issues in the psychology and self-help book section of bookstores and libraries, and a couple of times I even called a suicide hotline and spoke with people who were really kind and understanding. These days, there must be a lot of information on the internet as well. Please try to think positive thoughts, do the things that are not harmful that make you feel good, make connections with good, caring people, and stay strong. Always remember that the way you feel right now will not last...these feelings will pass and life will hold great happiness for you in the future, so don't do anything now that would prevent you from experiencing the joy that lies ahead for you.

I was 13 once and tought I had nothing to live for. I am now amother of 4, a regional manager with my company and very very happy. I can't believe that the thought ever crossed my mind. My daughter is 16 and she felt the same way about 2 years ago. When her father and I sat down and told her that there were many people out there that would be terribly hurt by this, she cried and cried and said she did not realize so many people cared for her. She is now a receptionist at my work ,makes good money and loves to shop and would never think about suicide again. Not only that but she has 3 younger siblings who look up to her!! The world may seem like it's not worth anything, but you have along life ahead of you and IT WILL get better! I promise. Don't try to please anyone but yourself. Be the best that you can be in everything you do. Maybe you can pick one person that you would want to make proud of you and make a change for them and yourself :) It is a sin to take your life! Remember God loves you and it is ok to pray. He will listen!!

I don't know your situation (and I'm not a doctor), so I'm just guessing here, but it might have to do with reaching puberty and the release of hormones that are changing your body. Sometimes that process can trigger a chemical imbalance, resulting in depression.

I know I went through a roller-coaster ride when I hit puberty. It never got so bad for me that I seriously considered suicide, but my circumstances and chemical composition are bound to be different from yours (and everyone else's for that matter). I would think that the best plan is to check with a psychiatrist to see if an antidepressant would be right for you...at least until the roller-coaster ride settles down. The hotline that another poster provided sounds like a great way to get hooked up with the right resources.

As dark as it can sometimes get, your life is too precious and rare to toss away - at least that's what the Buddha said. Hope that helps.

P.S. I strongly disagree with mindOVERmatter's suggestion that meditation will cure you. I have been meditating for over 8 years and have gone to Buddhist seminary. Meditation can be very helpful for most people on a number of levels, but it is definitely not a cure-all. I know a few people who meditate daily and ALSO take antidepressants because meditation did not cure their depression. If your depression is chemical, seek treatment.

Please talk to your mom or dad, or someone. My son is 13 and he had these thoughts too, and we have a GREAT home life! No yelling or fighting and we all love each other and get along well, and have a happy marriage and all. So, he felt REALLY guilty, but he couldnt help these thoughts! It is a chemical imbalance in your brain, most likely....causing depression, along with puberty. Some teens deal ok with it, but for others the thoughts just keep getting worse and worse, and they cant help it! It is not your fault. With my son, he got MUCH worse with anxiety and stress, like from school. There are 3 steps. THinking about it, planning it, and doing it. My son was on #2, and he was SMART enough to tell the counselor at school. He was thinking about how he would do it. This is planning, and very serious. I had to pick him up from school and take him right away to an emergency crisis center. He had to stay in a hospital with other kids his age for a few days, and went through therapy and was given some medication that has REALLY helped him (so far anyway!)---PLEASE talk to someone, and if you cant stop the thoughts, ask for a doctor appointment and tell him or her....it is better to be safe than sorry!!!

First of all think. I'm sure you are pretty. Even if you think you're not or if someone else has told you're not, still think. Do you want to throw away life? Do you want to basically go to hell? In the bible, it says that if you commit suicide you will not always go but have a major possiblity of going to hell. It doesn't say it exactly that way but that is what it is basically saying. I am not trying to make you feel anymore worse but do you want to throw life away just at the age of 13? You have many years ahead of you that you have not yet seen and you won't even reach it. And also get professional help and let them talk to you. Please think about this.

Wow, seems like a lot of teens are suffering from this curse. Yes, there is plenty of help out there. I, too, was suffering from not only suicidal thoughts, but acted on them a couple of times. The last time landed me in the ER and they sent me to a mental hospital for 72 hours. Worst time of my life. Congratulate yourself for asking for help, that means that you aren't giving up as many do. Please visit my webpage, "Antidepressant That Works" and see how I dug my way out of the rut (definition of rut: a grave with both ends removed).

Turning thirteen can be scary for young people if they haven't formed solid relationships with either their parents or someone from a secure family. Beginning the "teens" makes you think you need to be with the populars or a similar group. Beware comparing yourself to any others.
You have been created with every perfect facet needed to complete your own life purpose........ If you don't agree with that, you must try to get closer to God. ... (To know Him is to know His Word - and why He sent his Son to teach us.) Remember, a 13 yr old is not complete...You have to stick it out to experience life at its fullest. The choices you make and your lifestyle need to lead you where You want to go. DON'T miss out on all those blessings and the good fortune just around the corner! YOU have to be ready for them before they can happen.
Convince yourself (and tell others if you have to); just say, "I may be a simple stone but given the right pressure (and choices), I'm sure to turn into the gem God intended me to be.

YOU NEED TO SEEK HELP NOW. TALK TO YOUR PARENTS. THEY NEED TO FIND YOU BOTH A PSYCHIATRIST AND A THERAPIST (COUNSELOR). THERAPY SHOULD ALWAYS BE THE PRIMARY SOURCE OF TREATMENT IN YOUR TREATMENT PLAN, DEPRESSION IS A VERY SERIOUS SICKNESS THAT LEFT UNTREATED WILL MOST LIKELY LEAD TO SELF-MEDICATING (DRUG AND/OR ALCOHOL ABUSE), A LIFE OF MISERY AND POSSIBLY DEATH. I HAVE STRUGGLED WITH DEPRESSION ALL OF MY LIFE BUT I HAVE BEEN STABLE NOW SINCE 1997 AND HAVE A WONDERFUL HAPPY LIFE, BUT UNFORTUNATELY FOR ME I DID NOT SEEK HELP WHEN MY SYMPTOMS WERE MILD AND FAIRLY MANAGEABLE. I TRIED TO DEAL WITH EVERYTHING MYSELF, THIS DID NOT WORK OUT WELL AS SOON STARTED TO SELF-MEDICATE. GOT REALLY SUICIDAL, AND SUFFERED A COMPLETE BREAKDOWN IN 1993. RECOVERY AND STABILIZATION FROM THAT POINT WAS A LONG AND DIFFICULT JOURNEY ! I COULD HAVE SAVED MYSELF AND MY FAMILY A LOT OF PAIN HAD I SOUGHT TREATMENT SOONER. PLEASE DARLIN' GET HELP TONIGHT !
