I can't understand how dad has to teach him. is it mean that he must do it by himself and let son look at him, or it is mean that dad must do with him all this "target" staf?

Answer: Actually, it's not that important to teach boys to urinate standing up in the first place. Little boys have a small penis that usually points almost straight forward. When you teach them to urinate standing up, they'll often pee on the back of the toilet or miss the bowl completely. And if your son should get distracted, perhaps by someone calling out his name (probably not knowing that he's in the bathroom), he may turn, and then his urine will end up, at best, on the floor and at worst, in the bathtub or wastebasket, or on the wall. It's better to teach him to urinate sitting down (like you do). Later on you'll be able to teach him to urinate standing up in about a day.

Aiming takes practice. When a little boy starts urinating in a standing position, be prepared to wipe up (and/or have him wipe up) around the toilet.

• Show the boy how to point his penis down to avoid spraying the room whether by sitting down or standing up. (If a little girl wants to urinate standing up, explain it doesn’t work but let her try anyway if she wants to.)

• Teach the boy to aim accurately by having him "sink the battleship." Float the corner of the envelope or a piece of toilet paper in the toilet and have him aim at it. (Cheerios, we hear, are also popular for target practice!)

• Or drain the water from the toilet bowl and paint a red target with fingernail polish on the porcelain toward the back. Or use a red grease pencil.

• Urinating into the "blue" toilet bowel water will turn it green. (This works with girls, to, but it’s harder to see.)

• In the summertime, and in the privacy of a backyard or woods, let a boy practice his aim.

• Let fathers and sons have a "peeing party."

• In the winter let a boy "write in the snow."

• If a little boy wants to stand but needs to be a bit taller, stand behind him and let him stand on your feet.

• Be sure the toilet seat can't fall down on a young boy in these early stages. Have your child check to be sure that the seat is up securely before he urinates.

• Start teaching your son NOW that the toilet rim needs to be placed down after he's finished.

When my boys were little they also were fearful of the public toilet. Also at the same time wanting to be independent. I used to carry cheerios and throw a few in the toilet and I would hold them up and have him aim for the cheerios. I worked out well. Not only did they find it a game it did not take long for them to stand and hold thier pee pee higher so they could aim at the cheerios. We even did this at home when potty training first started. Good luck to you:)

There's only one real way that a boy can learn. Is from his father figure. This is not something that a woman can show him. We can explain and explain...but really - children learn from copying others.

When I was still a teen and my oldest son was learning - I asked my father to help. My son was always peeing sitting down. And I wanted him to - well, act more like a boy. My father was very happy to show him.

Boys learn "big boy" things - from big boys. Sometimes a woman has to step back, and let men be men. If there is no father in the picture, find a good friend or a relative who I'm sure will be happy to show him how to "aim like a man and shake it."

Take little pieces of toilet paper and ball them up, then throw them in the toilet and tell him to aim for them. It's also fun.
