The Bible says that he was to cultivate the Garden it also says that God brought the animals to him so that he could name them.
Genesis 2:15-19
God's purpose for the Earth was stated at Genesis 1:28 The earth was supposed to be filled w/ righteous people, spreading the paradise all over the earth. No where does it indicate that Adam and Eve would ever go to Heaven. To the contrary, they were told that they would die for disobedience Genesis 2:17. Why should they be rewarded?

Adam's job in the Garden was the same as ours is today: to attain to the likeness of God.

He didn't have a job after he'd named all the animals.

He got to simply enjoy God's presence.

That story was a fairy tale made up by man. Therefore, your question is pointless.
