My 4 yr old use to do this. I let him have alot of snacks then he would turn his nose up at meals. I had to get really strict! If he didn't eat his meal then he got no snacks and olny water. Pretty soon he got to where he was eating really good meals and asked for snacks less but would still ask. If she is eating good meals and still snacking she may be going through a growth spurt. I think it is pretty normal though...if you could eat all the snacks you wanted and not worry about your weight wouldn't you? LOL, i know I would, chocolate all the time!!!

My 4 yr. old daughter does the very same thing. She also is always wanting a drink. It very well may be boredom because I often put her off for a while and she forgets about it at times. Other times, when she is persistent I give her a small snack or make her eat a meal. It may also be that a child's stomach is only the size of their fist, so imagine how long that little amount of food will last. Also, feeding her when she's hungry is not making her fat by any means. My daughter is a bean pole weighing only 37 lbs. and standing taller than most children her age. Most kids will stop eating when they are full and won't eat when they are not hungry. You can confirm with your family doctor to be sure, but I'm sure you have nothing to worry about.

I think this is normal also.. I have a 3 year old son whom eats all day long.. but little meals.. what i do is put fruits and veggies in different ziploc bags... and either set them on the kitchen table or in the refrigerator,, I also cut up chunks of cheese and put those seperate also.. He knows that when he is hungry there is always food in the refrigerator for him to eat.. He also enjoys eating dried cereal, Kiks so I put baggies of that also.. Aside from this i prepare him his meals and he eats very well... He is a very slim boy, very active... Eats and burns it out.. But he's been doing this since he was 2, and the doctor said it was ok to let him eat all day, because he was very active, slim, and because he was growing, and he felt that the snacks i was preparing for him, would give him all the nutrients that he needed..

I had this problem with my son many years ago when he was about 3 or 4, and a child psychologist told me to do this: Fill an ice cube tray with a variety of different snacks (crackers, cereal, cheese, grapes, etc....) and let him know that he could have whatever he wanted, whenever he wanted it, but that is all he can have until the next meal..... let him choose one or two things, then take it, let him choose one or two things, then take it, space it out so he doesn't run out of food before the next meal, but if he does, it has already been made clear that he gets nothing else but what's in there until the next meal. It always worked when I did this, because he "thought" he was in control, but in reality, I chose what was in there, and in the end chose the amount he would consume between meals..... but boy, didn't he think he had control! LOL

As long as she is sitting down at meal time, and eating, and still eating snacks, then ok.
My daughter is doing preciously this. She is eating meals, and then eating snacks 5 minutes after eating a meal. (As she is at Nana's until I get home from work) I only witness this in the evening and on weekends. She is going thru a growth spurt, and is starting to get her head out of the refrigerator on occassion. Your 4 year old is probably doing the same thing... Just keep plenty of healthy snacks on hand. Lunch meat works alot for my daughter, as well as cheese, tunafish, crackers, peanutbutter, etc....

it depends, has she always wanted to eat constantly??? If so then no it is not normal, but if this is a recent thing it is possible it is normal..For instance out of boredom she might want to eat are if she is like my 4, 8, and 2 year old it could just be a growth spurt.... if it is then in about a week or so her appetite will decrease back to normal but if it doesn't talk to her Dr. You might want to just call and check anyway for peace of mind...

My daughter, who is 4, does to and it is frightening. The girl eats and eats and eats. The doctors say she is very healthy and has no problems. When I asked why she eats alot he said that during growth spurts she will consume alot more. I even went so far to ask if maybe a tapeworm was involved. They did a bowel and tummy examination to make sure and there was nothing. A fast and furious metabolism is what she has, they say.

I think thats starting an eating problem very young, you should probably start setting some ground rules, like brkft, lunch, dinner, maybe two snacks & thats it!
My 3 1/2 yr old has been doing the same thing lately so I'm telling myself this at the same time. Thanks!

don't know i have never went through this with my son but i have always served him a full meal & treats afterwards. hes fine until lunch, & dinner comes around. try feeding her a heavy meal like breads, its very filling. you will see the difference in her eating habits another thing keep her busy shes probally just bored maybe find some playmates for her & invite them in to play with your daughter pop in a movie for them pop some popcorn when my son was that young i would take him out in the back & let him play with kids his age put up a little swiming pool let them run through the springler kids at their age needs to get out in the world to have some play time i'm saying that you are not a good mother but just giving some ideas is all.
