Yes. Much better and much safer. Without religion, the Twin Towers would still be standing.

That's a really hard question. My instant response was to think, yes, absolutely the world would be a better place. But after reading some of the other answers, I am not 100% sure anymore. I love webwench's comment.... if you believe and practice a religion, that's great, but please don't enforce your beliefs on others. Live and let live.
To me, it is far more important to try to lead a good life, to have compassion and understanding and an open mind and good intentions, than to blindly and unquestioningly follow a script that dictates your beliefs and behaviour. I firmly believe in being accountable for my own actions, and cannot tolerate certain aspects of certain religions that allow "sinners" to repent and thus be forgiven for their wrongdoings, over and over and over again. In my experience, many religious people do not practice what they preach, but nevertheless have a holier than thou attitude which irks me to no end. Buddhism, on the other hand, I have no problem with, as it appears to be a very peaceful and accepting religion.... I think if we were all Buddhists the world might be a better, and most definitely, a safer place.

Simple answer, no, there have been many athiests who have been just as evil, do your research people, the human race will always have problems, my view on this is even if u took away culture and religion and made everyone similar they would just find something else to fight kill over, this is the beast in all of us. I think it might even be more chaotic without religion, though it has caused problems u cant denie that it hasnt brought peace and morality as well to those who practised it right without contradictions, unfortunately too many dont even know how to practise their own faith.

Yes. Most of the trouble in the world today is because of religious affairs. Almost ALL terrorism is inspired through religion (you think people would suicide bomb if they did not believe in life after death?), Millions have died becuse of forcing your own religion on them (The crusades are a good example of how the catholic church slaughtered hundreds of thousands for their beliefs), etc. I can go on and on about religion, and it's bad effects. When people realise there is nothing after death, then they might actualy put to good use the time they have left.

I believe that the world would be more peaceful if we focused more on spirituality rather than religious dogma. It's the dogma that has torn this world apart. To sum it all up "What do Jews, Christians, Muslims, Buddhists and even Atheists have in common?" We are all human beings. We have blood in our veins, we eat, we drink, we love, we mourn...isn't that enough proof for all of us to stop bickering about religion?

Without religion, none of us would have the things we have today. Because even if you don't pray for yourself and for others in this world, there are those who do believe in one GOD for all mankind. And those who believe, pray for those who are too ignorant to see what is right before their eyes. If God was a snake... But he isn't, the devil is. He exists too. There is such thing as trickery. We don't need to prove GOD exists. The devil is doing a great job explaining away his total existence.

Human nature and not religion is responsible for an unsafe world. This is why you can have preschool kids who know very little about anything get into fights, act greedy and spoiled, and hit each other.

It isn't the matter of religion itself, it is the people who believe that everyone should believe just as they do. If you believe then fine, just don't force others or murder to enforce your belief. It is your belief embrace it, live it, and get on with life.
