You can eat fruits that are high in fiber like blackberries, blueberries, boysenberries, grapefruit, passion fruit, raspberries, and avocado. Vegetables as well: artichokes, cabbage, EGGPLANT!!, Jicama, and acorn squash.
Also, dried fruits will have pretty much the same effect as oatmeal, but they don't always taste great. However, I am a fan of the dried apricot.

Hope this helps!
Good luck!!

Have you tried the Kashi line of cereals? Especially the GOLean varieties. Those are GREAT and should be fibery and healthy enough to substitute for oatmeal.

-have you tried making it on the stove.. not instant? I love it with walnuts and raisins.. or banana and walnuts... or apples and cinnamon... or peaches... :p

they are probably suggesting oatmeal because oat bran is high in fiber and cleanses the body of chlesterol and toxins. it also doesn't raise your blood sugar like sugared cereals and corn or rice cereals can. Regular oatmeals taste better than the instant ones. Or you could try other grains (not sugared) like quinoa, or kashi.
