You have to ask yourself, who's being the jerk?, him or you. If he's using you're things and dosent care then he's takeing advantage of you, and if you're friends are his then you have to ask youreself, are they really friends? Don't worry about looking like a jerk if you throw him out because he will understand who was being a jerk in the long run. Sadly sometimes people learn there lessons the hard way, we all have been through it and It's only after that, that we are able to humble ourselvs, so stand you're ground and do what you KNOW is best.

I would talk to your landlord about the situtation and see in she/he can get involved. Sometimes a little authority goes a long way. If that doesn't work she/he may let you out early from the lease.
I would also look into renter's rights for your state. There are sometimes loopholes with regard to leases and breaking them.
I had a similar situtation and I spoke to my landlord. They were very supportive of the situtation and asked my roommate to leave. Even though (legally) she didn't have to she still did--they made it very difficult for her to want to stay.
I wouldn't worry about your friends. Calmly (key word) explain what's been happening and that it's making you feel uncomfortable! No one woul want to live in an uncomfortable living situtation--so they should be able to sympatize.

Ok, What I did for a similar situation was: I wrote out a notice, 30 days, told them why, in the notice, after warning them several times why I didnt like what they were doing, and explained things to them. I also made sure they knew what areas were theres, and what areas were mine, or things. So there was no confusion for those issues. I even went as far as labeling to be extra nice to them. I have had roomates before, to have a bigger house, and thats where my sources for this are. Also, I kept most of my things in my room, and had a lock on my door, so they knew that was my area. just a few ideas. :)

You need to have a sit down talk with him about your things and his things. The things you can lock up, do it. The things you can't, you need to maybe go in halves with him or else just don't buy those things. If you have a talk with him and he still ignores your wishes, then tell him he needs to find another place to live. But keep everything amicable.

I did have this problem. Thats why I choose not to do the roommmate thing. But in your case, you should stop thinking about whats good for your image and think about whats good for yourself. Your friends know who you are and if you loose friends out of this they were never your friends and really never knew you. If you have to keep your things in your room, do it. If he/her enters your room and takes your items then it becomes theft and then it is time for someone to relocate. Do the right thing.

If he's not on your lease, then tell him that your landlord found out he was living there, and shouldn't be, and he has a month to find a new place, because, if not you will be kicked out in 30 days, & you can't afford to get evicted!!!

why not u keep all ur belonging away from him.. and this time , u use his.. watever belong to him.. even the bath towel. see how he feel.
if u r still not satisfied, than go to the next level.. use his galfriend, his car, his personal items, money etc.
but if nothing works.. well use the window.. kick him out !!

Your friends don't have to be with them so i wouldn't care what they said and if they are really your friends they would understand and since they were your friends longer than they have been his then i just wouldn't worry about it. i am not saying go and doubt your friendships with people and be stuck up ("jerkish") about it. but if they get mad just be like forget it and move on. but if i were u i would get ole' boy up out of my place.

Look sometimes you just got to do what yougot to do. Tell him what your problem with him is and if he says nothing tell him to leave and if he doesn't call the police and they'll escort him out. (that is if it is YOUR place.) If you are just sick of him and you're bigger KICK HIM OUT!!!
