As I was saying.., or asking.., why is it when Christians tell the truth even to one's hurt (not covering for someone) we are berated and hated - BUT - when the world ASSUMES (wrongly) we are telling lies, we are still berated and hated?
YET Society admits it is wrong to lie, but they lie in contradiction to their own secular state of morality and these assume everyone lies as well - even dictating what constitutes a lie. Is it because they are expert liars they feel comfortable with establishing what constitutes white lies? speaking as of which, what is an extreme lie? Black lie? Red lie? Purple?
Something is awful whack about the whole thing secular hypocrisy.

For the record - YES - it is wrong for Christians to lie and some who profess to be Christians do lie. Thats a problem but not what I am talking about. We are judged by judgers and people get bent when they think we are judging.

Alright... you have brought up a very interesting COMPLEX problem and I love to unravel these kind of questions. I think your subject is about lies rather than about Christians who tell the truth are brated and hated. First of all let's just break this down into groups here. In the basics of understanding of the human mind, body and soul, our thoughts, actions and even our words (see 3 in each set?) come from examples set by our family, society and the church. I really shouldn't be separating church and society because in today's world concepts are intermingling (my opinion).
Now, when we come into this world, we do not know what a lie is. In fact as we develop using words to communicate we learn how to lie from our family, religion and from the world. There is a poison out there that is spreading. And it's not healthy to our souls and our minds. And because individuals choose to accept lies about situations and through judgements of other people, we learn to project our lie onto others and other groups.
We are warned about the "lie" in the Garden of Eden. When Eve ate of the tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil and then gave it to Adam to eat, what she did was believe in the lie was told to her, which was the knowledge of life in fear, and then passed that lie on to Adam. Why do you think they covered themselves in fig leaves? Therefore, situations we face will be hard because of fear. We have to work, we have to suffer because the fear of others and what will happen to us if we don't comply. We all live in the reward and punishment concept. But only in the lie that we believe. If we "ate of the tree of life" then that lie does not exist and then.....but it didn't happen that way. We have been poisoned with lies which are how we are supposed to think and act based on our religion, family traditions and what the world is telling us. When do you and I decide to eat of the tree of life and come out of that nightmare? Life is not fear, it's love. We should not need to feel the need for fear but love. We should not need to feel that we are doing wrong.. but we do by telling lies based on what was taught to us by our religion, the world and even our family. By getting rid of the poison: the lies and the fear, and learning how to love and live with love, then we can know what truth is again and continue our lives happily and happily with other human beings no matter what age, gender or standing in philosophical perspective.

Aren't you doing exactly what you are claiming all us "secular" ppl are doing? Not all of us think all Christians are liars. And, ya know, I learned about the "white lie" thing from a very religious aunt. So it isn't just secular society that spreads those things.
And considering that the States, where I live, where Christianity is the majority, I don't see how one can say it's just the secular people. Since we're talking generalizations here.

Ahh, but you're talking about truth with a capital "T."
The old God Truth.
As in, "it's true because I reeeaallly believe it," and you're going to Hell for thinking otherwise!
The idea that people who believe in different ideas and religions... that everyone can belive what they want to... have been tricked by the Devil.
The reason that many Christians feel prosecuted is that they are not content to believe for themsleves, and live a happy satisfying life (and afterlife.) They want to change laws, change the beliefs of others... condemn them.
I think this is because in some deep dark coner down inside.. you're not really sure you believe. So like a kid that carries guilt, you go about to change others.. convice everyone else so that you don't have to really face your own doubt.
Sorry, nothing personal, I'm sure you're very nice.
More Christian prosecution.. but remember that I didn't post a question that attacked you, you posted a question that attacks everyone in the world who does not believe in your Truth (with a capital T)

Religion is based on personal opinion, whether you think it's true or false. You cannot assume that one is lying because they have different views than your own on religion. And some people really believe what they believe, and reject others' perceptions, projecting a lie. I'm not sure what you mean by contradiction, because no one's lying, it's all a matter of opinion.

This forum is not a picture of reality (the "real" world). I have never personally met such outwardly negative people in my life. The negatives you are getting could be from the generally nosey, contrary and bored people that frequent this category. The ones who are really not on here to help anyone at all.

A lie is a lie. Doesn't matter if it is black, red, purple, green, big, small or white. If you speak an untruth then you are lying. As far as society goes, I wouldn't give ten cents for their opinions.

THE MANY ARE JUDGED BY THE FEW. IN OTHER WORDS: IF YOU HANG OUT WITH CRIMINALS FOR EXAMPLE YOU WILL BE CONSIDERED A CRIMINAL YOURSELF. SO THEREFORE IF SOME OF THE MORE PROMINENT CHRISTIANS LIE THEIR BUTTS OFF THEN YOU WILL BE CONSIDERED A LIAR TOO. THE REV. ORAL ROBERTS ANDHIS PLEA, " GOD SAID I HAVE TO COLLECT $15 MILLION IN DONATIONS OR HE IS GOING TO TAKE ME TO HEAVEN." THAT MY FRIEND WAS A HUGE LIE! BUT NO CHRISTIANS SAID NOTHING ABOUT IT, JUST SENT IN THERE MONEY TO A DAMMED LIAR.

Why is it that the majority (christians) keeps on oppressing a variety of minorities with their biblical condemnments, yet at the same time that same majority complains how oppressed they are?
it's almost impossible to argue with an arrogant majority that feels as if they were the oppressed ones.

I'm human, I lie and have done lots of things that you might consider sins. I don't try to mask that with some religious forgivness or holier than thou attitude.. I don't think my morals are better or worse than your, I don't judge.
