No recommendation here, just a warning not to get hung up on megapixels:
* The quality of your pictures is mostly determined by the quality of the lens. The megapixels are just an indication of how big you can print. 6 megapixels is plenty for a beautifull full page print.
* The more megapixels, the worse the camera usually is in low light. I'd rather have a camera with just 5 megapixels that kept working at dusk, or that I could use indoors without the flash.
* If you NEED 8 megapixels, you probably NEED a camera with great all-round performance... forget about compacts in that case and get a digital SLR.
I'll grant you that anti-shake is a nice feature - it's worth paying a few extra bucks for that! Just don't focus too much on megapixels - there's more important things to consider (lens quality, zoom range, low light performance, is it responsive or do you have you wait 10 seconds for the auto focus to lock on...)
I'm sure you'll get plenty of recommendations though. Here's a great site for reviews to read up on all those suggestions: http://www.steves-digicams.com/hardware_reviews.html

Antishake use to be only avail in Minolta camera. But since Sony bought them, they have incorporate it in their newest DSLR N1. I don't think any of the Minolta is 8MP. So your only choice is Sony N1 and R1. But N1 is much smaller.

It depends on your budget. If you can afford SRL, the new Sony Alpha that is coming out, is great.
