Yes, and vice versa as well. Herpes simplex 1 is more likely to be found around the mouth as a cold sore, but can also be found in the genital area (the ratio is something like 60% chance mouth, 40% chance genitals), and herpes simplex 2 is the reverse. But, whatever the case, the answer is a big fat YES.

Yes oral and genital out breaks can happen at the same time but not always. It depends on the person, every one that has herpes has different experiences with out breaks. Usually painful or uncomfortable itching, burning and or tingling symptoms around the mouth is a sign of an oral herpes out break.Maybe you caught the oral out break in time to prevent a sore or blister from forming. Keep an eye on it and keep using the Abreva if any symptoms reoccur

I got diagnosed with herpes simplex virus (type 2) about 4 yrs ago, whilst I was still attending college and had a dumb one-night stand.
