So which is the correct version of this fable?

The order in Genesis 1:
Day 1: Sky, Earth, light
Day 2: Water, both in ocean basins and above the sky(!)
Day 3: Plants
Day 4: Sun, Moon, stars
Day 5: Sea monsters (whales), fish, birds, land animals
Day 6: Humans (apparently both sexes at the same time)
Day 7: Nothing (the Gods took the first day off)

*Note that there are days, evenings and mornings before the Sun was created!

The second one, Genesis 2:
1.Earth and heavens (misty)
2.Adam, the first man (on a desolate Earth)
3.Plants
4.Animals
5.Eve, the first woman (from Adam's rib)

Okay oro

I'll explain it this way, again. If you were describing your house to someone you might do it as follows. First we poured the foundation, then we did the framing , then we did the electrical, then the plumbing, and on and on ....

Or you might start at one end of the house and work your way through to the other end.

Still a third way would be to start with your favorite room and work your way to the more mundane.

All of these descriptions would be 100% accurate. So it is with
the biblical account of creation. As for the days and evenings before the sun was created, go back and read it again please. The first thing God made said was "let there be light". Now others have said that this is a contradiction because he did not create the sun until the 4th day. What they overlook is that God brought about an eternal light. Throughout the bible there are examples of God's light. So there was certainly light prior to the creation of the sun.
Now you may not believe that any of these things actually took place, but one cannot honestly call these contradictions. Anyone who studies the bible can see the consistency which if anything gives it more credibility.
Hope this helps. Please feel free to inquire about any of the other alleged contradictions. I have yet to see one that can stand up.

When Moses compiled the book of Genesis he referred to written records or “histories” that predated the Flood.

The first of these begins with Genesis 1:1 and ends at Genesis 2:4 with the words, “This is the history of the heavens and the earth . . . ”

The second historical document begins with Genesis 2:5 and ends with verse two of chapter five.

So, we have two separate accounts of creation from slightly different points of view.

In the second of these accounts, in Genesis 2:19, the original Hebrew verb translated “was forming” is in the progressive imperfect form. This does not mean that the animals and birds were created after Adam was created. Genesis 1:20-28 shows it does not mean that. So, in order to avoid contradiction between chapter one and chapter two, Genesis 2:19, 20 must be only a parenthetical remark thrown in to explain the need for creating a “helper” for man. So the progressive Hebrew verb form could also be rendered as “had been forming.”

The sun was created when God said let there be light like wise the moon and stars. The layer of water that encompassed the atmosphere created a thick cloud layer that obscured the heavens. As the clouds dissipated the heavens became visible.
Second Genesis is the account of the creation of Adam and the recreation of the beasts in Eden, not the earth.Eve like wise was separate from the first creation men who had not the capacity to till the fields,God states that as the reason for creating Adam.
Genesis 2 was on the eighth day.
No contradiction,just wrong understanding.

Chapter 2 expands on chapter 1. You don't need the sun to have days. a day is a 24 hours of rotation.
