or suppose maybe your child was kidnapped. wouldn't you then get on your knees and pray? all i'm saying is that we are usually unable to prevent tragedy entering our lives. why not realise that you will need Him some day, at some point, and show some respect, dont store up trouble for yourself by biting the hand that feeds you.

does it not make sense?

or are you sure it wouldnt make sense in one of the scenarios i listed above.

I would never pray to something I don't believe in that would just make me a hypocrite.
Now I have been dead, and I have been dying still I would not Give over to Jesus because I am not a christian.
I was raised as a christian read the bible cover to cover countless times can recite chapter and verse.
Studied theology at Uni along with philosophy and psychology.
I had an epiphany a few years ago.
The human race is massively arrogant and if there is a god, he, she, it, they, have better things to do running the universe with the 200,000,000,000 (that's 200 Billion) stars and possible solar systems in our galaxy not to mention the other 150,000,000,000 just in the visible universe to listen to my petty whining so instead of waiting for Divine intervention I was going to make the world a better place my own way live an honourable life work hard and blame myself when things went wrong.
Congratulate myself when my patients and hard work paid off and unlike the religious right wing take responsibility for my own actions.
Religion has caused more war, death, misery and oppression, given power to evil dictators and held back humanity on the whole for nearly 1000 years.
Look I won't discount the existence of a god but if there is an Omnipotent omnipresent being, why would he care at all what church you pray in, and would he have such an inferiority complex he would need your prayers to augment his ego.
I don't think so!! If you want to believe in a god and it helps you sleep at night or makes you a better more moral person then that's great. But you know what else that is your business and that relationship should be personal between you and your god.
Stop pushing religion on the rest of the world.
Just remember Hitler was a devout christian and it was his twisted interpretation of the bible that became the by laws of the Nazi party.
feuds between catholics and Protestants has split Ireland for 60 years and now differences in beliefs is the driving force behind the shower of terror attacks.
A better question would be is religion a good thing?

Why not to Allah, or Buddha, Krishna?

Even if people do cry out to Jesus in a moment of turmoil I believe it might also be because Christianity has been so indoctrinated into our psyche.

This is not to deride a faith but to accept that there is a need to feel someone is there for us in our hours of need. I just believe all such prayers, to a number of divinities, may have an equal effect.

Things I would do in preparation for death:
Make sure I told all my friends and family how much I loved them.
Apologize and make peace with anyone that I had hurt, emotionally or otherwise.
Make peace with myself.
Say good-bye to my kitty.
Make sure that those closest to me would be okay after my passing.
ANd then I'd find a comfortable place to pass.
And NO, I would not pray. I am not religious. Religion breeds contempt, intolerance, hatred and greed, and causes war, famine and poverty. It divides this world.

Because I am a Muslim I can not pray to Jesus. If I were a Christian I will ever pray to Thee (Him) even I have less than a minute to live. But, now I am a Muslim I pray to Allah Almighty every nano second.

The thing is we should be rightly situated in God...we shouldn't just pray when we are faced with misfortune but all the time. Death is inevitable ; each of us knows that we have to go someday...so isn't it best to glorify Him all the time?

no. if i was about to die, i would do what i can to stop it. if my child was kidnapped, i wouldnt pray to jesus. kidnapped kids die all the time, and the parents freuqently pray for their safe return. so it does no good. i trust in myself, and only myself. there is no god watching or protecting me.

It only makes sense if you do not know any better, and your conception of how the world works is limited to a small bubble.

Your sincerity is endearing. However...because people are wise in their own eyes, it is written:

John 8:44
You are of your father the devil, and the desires of your father you want to do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own resources, for he is a liar and the father of it.

So man is left to his own choices.
