The food is good in first or business. In coach, it is okay for airline food. It depends on what a food connoiseur you are. If you don't mind airline food then it's decent. If you don't like airline food then it's just alright. I would bring food you like to eat to snack onboard. The 777 & 747 have large screens. From Chicago to London that's what you probably be on. So in First & Business, you will have personal screens and channels and even movie videos. In coach, depending on the plane, you might have a personal screen with a few different movies to choose from. Otherwise, you might have the big screen which is decent except if you are all the way in the back. Then, make sure your seat is further up the airplane at least close to the side emergency doors. Then, you shouldn't have a problem seeing the big screen. Best bet, if seeing the screen clearly is important to you, call up reservation and ask what kind of plane you will be on - if it's the model with the big screen then ask for a seat change if they have any available closer to the screen. The international service is usually pretty good even in coach. To best pass the time -- sleep if you can, so when you are at your destination, you have plenty of energy to have fun. The worse thing is to get to your vacation city and feel tired and jet-lagged and not have any fun because you're too tired. Bring a travel pillow, earplugs and an eyemask with you if you are in coach to drown out the airplane noise. (They will have it available in First & Business) Also, don't drink too much caffeine or take in too much sugar before or during your flight. That will just make you crash and zap your energy. Drink plenty of water to relieve your dehydrated body from the flight. Try taking Airborne to ward off bugs & germs. It also helps you to feel more energized and refreshed during and after the flight. Also, bring your mp3 or cd player with you. Try some relaxing or soothing music or any music you like that helps you relax and pass the time. Bring your laptop if you have one to play games with or write in. If you like to read, don't forget your favorite book(s) or magazine(s). I wish I was going, too. I so miss London. Have a fantastic trip!

I traveled United/Air China to Beijing before. THe food is decent, service is really good. I flew on one plane that had personal, others did not, but the big screens were not hard to see (except the subtitles were hard to see)
Have a great flight!
