guiness it is great stuff and actually, contrary to belief, a bottle of it a day is almost if not as good as a glass of red wine for you a day

All alcohol has calories and thus is fattening. Liquor such as whiskey, Scotch, etc contain the most calories. I had a girlfriend in college who always ordered her drink with diet something if it was a mixed drink. I never understood that until she pointed out how many calories booze contains. And then of course there are nearly 200 calories in a can of soda.

All calories refer to a 12oz serving of beer
- Bud regular 145
- Bud light 110
- Miller GD 143
- Miller Lite 96
- Lowenbrau Dark 160
- Colt 45 Malt 174
There doesn't seem to be that much of a difference, but I don't drink so it doesn't concern me.
Just a thought but if you're worried about the calories in a single beer per week, maybe it's time to add some additional exercise time into your weekly schedule.

If you like the dark beer then drink it, the calorie difference between 1 dark beer and 1 light beer is not a big deal. Walk an extra mile and you will burn off the difference.

They say dark beer has more calories but what they fail to tell you is that a dark beer like Guinness will go right through you, especially if you have a couple, so no I don't think it's any more fattening than a pale ale or a lager.
