I am a female thinking about joining the army and I was wondering if anyone had any advice about what to expect or about their expereinces, such as solider life, especially boot camp, and potential job opportunities.

Advice and expereinces from a female perspective would be great.

Thank You!

If you don't mind a response from a guy that went through the army's BCT, basic combat training and then OCS.

I'll tell you the one key thing that I have told over 200 young men and women who have asked me about boot camp over the past 20 years. No matter what happens, how much stress and pressure (others call it BS) they pile on top of you; no matter how many times you start to wonder; WHAT HAVE I DONE BY JOINING THE ARMY!!, and regardless of how many times you feel like quitting please just remember this one piece of advise. Just remember that basic is only 8 weeks long and it will eventually come to an end and you will move forward and into the mainstream army. Bluntly stated, as long as you know there is a time limit you can do anything and put up with anything...and basic has a time limit. Good luck.

Sorry young lady, I'm a guy, but I can tell you that expect alot of BS stuff that will shake your head. You have a better experience now The military has come a long way for how they treat female soldiers.Boot camp is strenuous not hard, get in shape and you will be ok. Remember its a mind game they play. A soldiers life can be rewarding but lonely your friends and family maybe far away but never from your heart. You will meet some real interesting people while your there. One of the most important things is to use the Military for all its benefits, schools, education and awards programs, Trust me it will assist your career in the future, I served with female soldiers, good group of women too, treated each other with respect and equality. Job opps will come after you get out. Good Luck Young Lady

Well life as a soldier isn't easy the pay isn't that bad especially since you get housing allowances, health insurance, and some other incentives, army basic is not as hard as marine basic, and there are quite a few job opportunites depending on what you are thinking about doing. Don't listen to those hippies who might answer your question they are just cowards. im not a female though.

Don't be a fool! The army brainwashes you into becoming a merciless killing machine. If they don't kill you fast in Iraq, they'll kill you slowly with depleted uranium.
