Professional photographers like Canon the best.
This depends greatly on what you want, and how much you want to spend. The Nikon Coolpix L1 that I bought for $225 is awesome. I got it at Costco.

get a anti shake one, because the pics want come out blurry.
Models best ones are, Canon, Sony, Nikon, Minolta, Fuji, Olympus , Panasonic.
