No the 40 million are actually in poverty. Poverty is when they can't meet their basic needs or one or all of these are very deficient: food, clothing, shelter, health, education.
There are social programs to help those in need, but the problem is corruption by those in charge of distributing the money from taxpayers and foreign aid.
Most of these in poverty migrate from rural areas to the major cities in Mexico, establish themselves in the outskirts of the cities, look for jobs but have no skills nor education to compete with the urban population where jobs are also scarce. One thing that causes scarcity is, population increase is faster than the resources to support it. The people from rural areas tend to have more family than those in urban areas. Its a complicated issue, and Mexico hasn't been able to keep up with its demographic explosion or its own migrating issues. They have been spending more money in the political fight for power for the last 6 years and this is creating more and more poverty. There is a political division between the poor and the rich at this very moment that will destabilize the country. The US.A. needs to wait till September for the new Mexican president to take office and start negotiations on immigration.

C'Mon Game

Its Not The UNFAIR ECONOMICS Of America
The American Economy Is Designed
To FAIRLY Benefit AMERICAN CITIZENS
NOT ILLEGAL Aliens
And It Works Just Fine

But With 20 Million ILLEGAL Aliens
UNFAIRLY Drawing The Benefits
Without Contributing Back Into The System
The System Is Deteriorating

Its The UNFAIR ECONOMICS Of MEXICO

These People Should Get Off Their Indigent @$$E$
And Have A Revolution In Mexico
And Leave OUR Nation Alone

Mexico Is Not A Poor Nation
There Are MORE NATURAL RESOURCES Per Square Mile
In Mexico Than In The USA

The Population Is Poor Because
The Mexican Government Wont Develop
The Nations Infrastructure

WHY NOT You Ask??

Because They Dont Have To
They EXPORT Their Poverty To The USA
So The American Taxpayers
Can Educate Them
And Give Them Health And Welfare Benefits

Why SHOULD The Mexican Government Do It
The American Taxpayers Are Doing It

Your'e All Tryin To Twist It

Instead Of BUILDING Mexico
We Are UNBUILDING The USA

Mexico Should Be Trying To Achieve FIRST WORLD Status
Like The USA
Instead Of Trying To Break The USA To THIRD World Status
Like Mexico

IIt did not work before with the previous 2 amnesty bills, or the new NAFTA laws, what makes you think it will work now?
Mexico has never honored any thing about America other than the amount of illegal American dollars flowing across our borders by their criminals, and the ones Living in our country funneling more money to the country to support it's so called corrupt government. If Mexico is as bad as these illegals say then why do millions of Mexican immigrants migrate here legally every year without breaking our laws?

You cannot make a real alliance with Mexico. We have never had friends in Mexico City. Granting legal status only encourages more violation. We have a track record to look back on.

If we seal our southern border, Mexico will be forced to honor their own Constitution and the lot of Mexicans will improve. Otherwise, all you have is a safety valve for the Mexican status quo.

No, it's Mexico's fault they are not supporting their own population off their 1 trillion dollar GDP. It is not america's responsibility to wipe their behinds anymore. We have given Mexico INSANE amounts of money, it's time to stop throwing good money after bad. Get the border fence built, get the ICE on the job, get employers, citizens, the federal government involved, get the people from mexico back TO mexico and have done with this. They need to stand up eventually and take care of their own. They won't do it as long as our country represents the perpetual easy out.

Mexico has broken every promise and alliance. You can't do anymore. In addition, they are against the existence of the United States for everything except exporting their poor and their taking of our money and services.

If you grant any type of amnesty, then we have no rule of law past, present - or future. The taxpayer will exist to only serve the illegal immigrants.

No!!!!!!!!!!!!... more amnesty they have had the same amount of time that the US has had to develop their own natural resources, their government is to lazy to put their heads together and develop their own country, and the people are to afraid to protest and march and demand their rights as citizens, but they sure stretch their mouth when they get over here don't they. Granting legal statis would just bring more, just like the last time.

right on! We should make a pact with Mexico. On one side of the deal, we will legalize the Mexicans in the U.S. In return, Mexico will promise to discourage border crossing and they will be held responsible for every illegal in the U.S. Also, we would give some money to Mexico to help to stablize their economy.

Maybe if you could spell properly that would help. You have a good suggestion about allowing legal status to the immigrants already in the States.

i agree with you. but to grant them they should make sure they have a clean record. most immigrants are here to get a better life. they do stuff we don't want to do like clean toilets and stuff like that.i think it would be a great idea granting legal status to immigrants who live here have a clean record, pay their taxes, and other stuff that help the community. well that's my opinion. not everyone has the same point of view.
