To be perfectly honest, no I don't care what people think of me. I learned a long time ago that worrying about what others think of a person is pointless, it is what a person thinks of him/herself that is important. The person I am is the person you can either like or dislike, it really doesn't matter to me one way or the other. I've tried to encourage my children to think for themselves and be their own persons without the influence of their peers. My oldest son learned a valuable lesson several months back when he fell 'prey' to peer pressure and got into some serious trouble. Now, I know he understands why I am the way I am and why I want them to be unaffected by outside b/s.

I would havta say yes. I dress appropriately for my surroundings. I make sure I look decent whenever I feel its nessisary. And, I watch what I say and how I say things to make sure others dont percieve me wrong.. not to mention, I like to leave a little mystery. I think we all care to a degree, even if we say we dont. Most have to care to make it in the world... it might mean compromising our feelings for the benefit of ourselfs sometimes, but it usually turns out to be worth it.

As for peer pressure affecting my daily life, I am a stay at home mom, so my children are my peers, which makes it uber important to watch what I say and how I say it, not to mention, if I dont have good hygiene, they might think its not important either, and same for a clean home. Everything I do is a lesson for them.. so of course I have to consider their reaction and feelings.

As a Christian Pastor it is important to a degree.
As long as people know me to be honest and forthright, which I try very hard to be.
They know what I believe and most respect, though may not agree, with my beliefs.
As far as peer pressure, I'm 55 and just a little beyond that.
I personally think if you are known as a man that says what he means and means what he says your doing great.

I care what my spouse, family, close friends and immediate co-workers think about me. However I would not say I give into peer pressure (at my age don't ge much of that) as much as I just try to carry myself with dignity.

I'll be honest...

I think it does. I go to the gym 6- 7 times per week, wear makeup during the day (I hate makeup) and check myself out in the mirror to make sure I look ok.... No I don't love myself but I can't help but worry about what people are thinking of me.

I'm in my mid twenties and I'm ashamed to admit that I'm still worried about what others think - when in fact they probably don't care, it's all in my head I know :)

I am my own person. I know who I am and am content within myself. What other people think about me, does not add to or dimish me.

Of course, it is always nice to have friends who like me.

I think we are influenced by contemporary styles. However, contemporary social mores that are acceptable to many may not be inherently acceptable. I refuse to do things that dimish me as a person, hurt me physically, or endanger the welfare of others.

Certainly. It is a human trait to want to be accepted by others. I have a public face for teachers/employers/shopkeepers etc..but then I can let loose and feel freer to be myself around those who really mean something to me and are more willing to accept my quirks and foibles. It is the same for most, providing you have developed friendships and relationships based on who you really are, not a pretence.

No. In studying the Apostle Paul's life I learned from him that he had nothing to prove, nothing to hide, and nothing to lose. I try to follow in his footsteps and live true to my self and God. It only matters to me what God thinks of me and I try to live in His presence, where I am accountable for my actions, words and thoughts. Most other people live only to please themselves, so why should I worry about what they think of ME? Most all my family can't understand this about me, and because of it they have lost any control they thought they had. I love living in freedom and grace!
