No, not at all. If you look more carefully at the missiles they're testing, they can only reach the Aleutian Islands of Alaska. That's not an important target at all.

A threat, maybe. But if it came down to a war, North Korea would have no chance. Allies are hard to come by for them and they're so poor. All of this missle testing BS is just a distraction. Our real threat is still from the terrorist cells.

Yes and I am very surprised by a lot of responses on your question. This country has the ability to fire WMDs and hit the USA, and they have an unstable dictator at the controls. If this is not a threat then Iraq is Disneyland. We willingly spend billions on top of billions to chase an enemy that is unseen and has no country because of the " threat " they pose. Now one of the members of the " Axis of Evil " has launched test missiles and broken every agreement he ever made......we think they aren't a threat. We didn't think terrorists were a threat before 9-11.......what did we really learn?

Anyone who doesn't think N.Korea is a threat to the US is a damned fool. Your question should be about China and N.Korea. because N.Korea is China's surrogate. Don't think for a moment that the Chi-Com's aren't the ones pulling the puppet's strings.

Some would argue that China won't hurt the US, because the US is responsible for their good fortune. Understand one thing about China. China is a two headed monster. One head is the industrial sector that truly does not want hostilities with the US. The other is the militant Chinese communist party that despises the US. The Chi-Coms also control the country, so they have final say as to what goes on militarily

Not as a military power that could destroy us per se, but after 9/11, any attack on US soil would destroy us morally and definitely economically. The US could not withstand another attack on us no matter how big or little. Probably the main reason that N. Korea would even consider this is their country is being overrun by too many people, too many mouths to feed and not enough food to feed them, so incomes medical problems, a very unstable society, so theres very little hope of any kind of peaceful answer so how to get rid of a few million people quickly? Kind of sounds like a few other countries, if you know your history, and this may be problem of the near future of many countries.

actually, Yes, I think so. And I think they are also a threat to other countries too.
But, since we are known as a "threat" to everyone in the world, we would be the first they pick on. Other countries are seen as not so threatening.....if you really think about it. In a war, who do you take out first........the little ones who mean nothing, or the big one who can take you out easily.. Of course you go with the biggest one....then move on to the little threats if you succeed taking out the biggest threat.
everyone thinks that since alot of our troops are overseas, that our defenses are down. Problem is, they forgot about all of us still at home, ready to defend our country, our families and our homes. I know I would. I know plenty of people who would.

Not in the short term, because what Kim-Jong Il ultimately wants is cold, hard, cash without giving up anything. He thinks if he can do enough threatening things, he will ultimately get more aid when he decides to negotiate.

In the long term, world politics may change enough for him to attack S. Korea. Then he would use his capabilities to try to hold off any U.S. military aid.
