I say it can be determined before and after birth. If a child is molested by the same sex early in life - sometimes they turn out gay when they otherwise may not have. Or maybe you are adopted by gay parents and learn the lifestyle from them you may turn out gay there too. Just depends on circumstances.

Well all the gay people I've ever heard met say that you don't choose it, so either almost everyone who is gay is a liar or they are born that way, or it is determined VERY early in life.
I find it preposterous that all those gay people are lying about a subect that they understand better than anyone.
What's even more rediculous is that so many anti-gay christians ARE SO FREAKING CERTAIN that you're not born that way even though they would be in the WORST position to ever have that information.

No it's a deceiving ourselves that there is such a thing as orientation. I feel bad for those people who are born with questionable sexual body parts. Like one way on the inside and another on the outside. That is so hard to understand why that would happen. Maybe all the hormones in the environment, plastics, chemicals like DDT, PCPs, etc.

people are born with their sexual orientation. there have been studies done with identical twins, and if one is gay, the chances of the other being gay are extremely high. some would say that it is because of the environment, but the same study was done with fraternal twins and the chances of the other twin being gay were much lower. to me that proves that you are born with a sexual orientation. and plus, who would choose to be gay? who would chose a life of ridicule?

They think that they may have isolated a gene, actually.
That would indicate that it's determined at birth.
Personally, I think there is a spectrum (so to speak). There are individuals who will never consider themsevles attracted to the opposite sex, there are bi-sexuals, and there are individuals who could never imagine themselves with the same sex, and then all inbetween.
I say it's not nature vs. nuture.. It's nature *and* nurture.

There's no definite scientific proof yet (though they're getting close). But I believe you're born either gay or straight.
I mean, who'd CHOOSE to be gay, considering all the hassle it involves.

I really don't think the experts know this for sure. Personality is determined by genes, environment, and personal decisions, but I don't know if this fits into that catagory.

No, it is determined BEFORE birth, in the womb. Yes, you are genetically gay or straight (or bisexual).

I have to say yes. Because I can "choose" to be a lesbian,,,but it doesn't make me crave pussycat. I will still wake up wanting penis everyday.
