Because satan is making his presence known in these last days. Maybe they mean that they are filled by satan, rather than that they are satan.

What disturbs me more, is our society's ignorance of satan. Believe it, he is "prowling around," looking to invade someone's life or family to attempt to make a mockery of JESUS' power.

Haven't you known good CHRIST-like people or families who are suddenly attacked by divorce or another unCHRIST-like circumstance? And you wonder, how could it happen to them?

What has happened is that satan somehow got a foothold into their lives, and is trying to destroy their GODliness, so that people will have doubts about the Faith and CHRIST's Good Works.

Possibly because of the symbolism behind Lucifer. Lucifer was an angel who fell from grace by doing what he thought was best. Personally I find this fable to be an analogy to the human race. We all act thinking we are doing what's best or what's right, not considering others. We forget it's better to do right by other people than enforced obligations.

They lack self confidence and feel they have no control so doing so makes them feel special. whereas accepting your place in the universe under God implies you know you are not perfect and probably a lot smaller than you would like to think.

If one is a reluctant conformist, then the "bad boy" and rebel seems cool. Satan is the ultimate bad-boy/rebel.

They may have not got their quota of worship in the last few days.

They think it's cool. But then again, the Bible says that in the last days, good will be called evil, and evil will be called good.

in the Dire Straits song Industrial Disease, Mark Knopfler sings..."Two men say they're Jesus, one of them must be wrong".
Not an answer to your question, but maybe you understand what I infer.

I've never met anyone who claimed they were Satan. Are you sure about this?

They do it to be different, to annoy you and to make a statement that they do not think much about God, religion or people who pretend to be 'good'.
