A person can successfully stop smoking. It will be hard, but you can do it. Sure there are companies that say that chewing a gum can help you stop smoking. But remember they are a business. The products they sell are gums which contain nicotine. The same addicting product which causes people to become addicted to smoking. I would be very cautious of these products as you would be consuming the same lethal products you are trying to avoid. If you truly want to stop smoking, just stop cold turkey. Smoking like any addiction can be broken. Think of those people that are alcholics. They stop drinking and the next day is a new day. Each day they take without a drink is one more day under their belt. Don't pickup a cigarrette. If you start to think of smoking, distract yourself. Do something else. Read a book, ride a bike, watch t.v.. Do something that will be satisfying to you and will make you happy. The longer you go without smoking, your skin will start to look younger. Your clothes will no longer smell of smoke. You will feel better about your self and that will be your fuel to keep going each day without smoking. And don't forget all the money you will save by not spending it on the wasteless cigarettes. You'll have extra money to splurge on. Save it. Maybe take a trip or buy yourself new clothes. You start to feel better and your lungs will thank you. It will not be easy to stop, but just take each day at a time. And don't say I'll stop tomorrow. Because then you'll try to smoke as many cigarettes tonight you can get your hands on. Rather stop right now - this instant. Don't pick up another cigarette. Do it for yourself. By you asking this question, you are definetely concerned. So stop right now. And tomorrow you can congratulate yourself for not smoking for 24 hours. Take each day at a time.

First YOU really need to want to stop and not because people tell you or because not healthy and son on. Also tried twice before I actually did but both times as soon as stressed slowly began again. The thirs time ws tired of being addicted and wanted my body back not controlled by the need to smoke-withdrawals were so that I really got ill and very difficult to live with. The 3rd time got the Patch(nicotene) and also wnt to family doctor for other medicines-prescription needed that can ease anxaiety, calm nerves and so on for I really, really wantaed to stop and figured the easier with help the more likely I would for why suffer when not necessary. Pills were really great-put me in a good mood and used the highest patch strength only 1(One) Time then wen to next and used 2 times and then the last strength 2 times-doesn't take more than approximately 2 weeks for your body to withdraw from the nicotine and aftr that its all mental. If you are used to having cig. first thing in the morning with coffee if you can switch to tea(green) for will help get nicotine toxins out of the body and break the association habit-cigarette with coffee. I found that at approx 3 weeks was not sluggish in the Am and didn't need the coffee to wake me up. Also drank a lot of water and tea throughout the day and chewed sugarless gum-to avoid eating all the time and exercised for your metabolism will slow down a bit and walking approx 12 hr a day will spike it back up.I also kept apples, celery stick, raisins an so on on hand for your desire to eat will increase-reson also for chewing gum and drinking tea/water for the cig no longer. It takes discipline and detrmination an setting small goals I st my goal not to smoke one day at a time. Also kept busy. Haven't smoked in 6+years but still if someone smokes a cigarette love the smell but since my determination was put on high every morning I neer again picked up a cigarette. I wish you a lot of luck and will send a request to God to have Him strengthen your spirit and resolve.

I stopped by weaning myself off of the addiction. You have to teach your body to no longer need a substance. Start literally cutting each cig. in half. then based on how often you smoke cut that in half. So you go from a whole cig. to half and from 10x a day to five and continue to lower it every week. The process could take a couple months but it will be well worth it. Soon you will be down to like one a day since they are cut in half anyway you can smoke twice. Then before you know it the nicotine won't be so desired and you will stop completely. Then at that point you can start chewing the nicorette gum. I have been smoke free for one year from this self taught technique! Good luck

Because you don't want to!
I quit 28 years ago after a life time of second hand smoke and smoking 1 pack a day for many years.
i quit because I found something I wanted to do and I could not smoke to do so.
That gave me the insensitive to do so.
So find something that you want more than that cigarette.

on average it takes 8 times to quit smoking. Doint give up everyone has struggles in their lives right now this one is yours. Carry a bag of hard candies around with you and ever time you get a craving pop one in your mouth. Stay away from people who dont support your decision and avoid second hand smoke. Get rid of anything that might drag you down.
Good luck & keep me posted

Stop bying cigarettes and stop doing things that you would do when you are smoking, like stopping at the store at night so that you have a cigarette in the morning or getting up a little bit later so that you doing have time for your morning cigarette and coffee

Talk to yourself must convince its wrong and recite the things you can't do anymore. Places you can't go. Takes a long time. Then if you get sick bad cold, flue or something like that it will be the time. But remember keep talking and convincing yourself. Don't give up. Find something to do with your hands.
